Disappointed Vancouver employees to get second chance to see A340-500.
Last week, at the last minute, our 'Sneak-a-peek' Airbus A340-500 event in
Vancouver was cancelled as the aircraft was unexpectedly called into service.
We understand many people made a special effort to see the plane and were
disappointed when it didn't happen.
We're pleased to say the event has been rescheduled and employees, retirees,
and their
families and friends can tour the aircraft on Friday (July 30) from 3 - 7 p.m.
If you'd like a second chance to see what all the excitement's about, the
aircraft will be ready for viewing at the Operations Centre, North Hangar area
(6001 Grant McConachie Way) , Bay 4.
If you're uncertain how to get there, there will be signage in the airport or
you can ask one of the event's volunteers.
Please note: valid Air Canada identification is required and for security
reasons no cameras will be permitted.

. Nice to know.
Web check-in now available. Starting July 27, customers and employees
can use
the Web to check in for flights between Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. The
service is available for customers with confirmed bookings and for employees
who have booked or registered for a flight, and who are flying without checked
bags. Anyone with bags should check in at the airport in the standard way.
Boarding passes can be printed on home or office printers. Employees can link
to Web check-in from the Employee Travel Site. Customers and employee travel
partners travelling alone can go to the aircanada.com website and link to
check-in. Web check-in will expand later this summer to include all flights
within Canada, including baggage registration, and to U.S. and international
destinations within the next year.

Air Canada News:
Do you have any vintage copies of enRoute magazine kicking around the
house? Air
Canada’s in-flight magazine enRoute will be celebrating its 40th anniversary
next year. To celebrate this event, the editorial team is preparing a
commemorative issue to be published next Spring. But the enRoute archives are
missing copies of its critical first years. If you have copies that span the
years 1965-1975, we’d like to borrow them. If you’d like to contribute with an
issue from this era, send your copy to Andrea Fisher by -mail and include your
name and return address – your copies will be returned to you intact. We need
your vintage copies before Friday, Aug. 14th, as production of the issue will
begin shortly. Mail to

. In response to the smilie about the folding guitar in NetLetter 840,
Tom Heald sends this -
Hi Guys. You must have missed the last sentence in the story. Reason for the
folding guitar in the cockpit was for the small storage space for crew baggage.

If you have ever had to use the jump seat you know the pilots do not have time
to play at anything. They are professionals.
The folding guitar was for playing in the hotel on crew rest. The guy obviously
was not too enthusiastic about watching TV. Also, lets face it. Must be good
for meeting people around the pool.
Regards.
Tom Heald
