An update on the billing process using the Employee Travel Site (ETS)
All employee travel billing charges are now up-to-date. However, if you’ve
travelled since the launch of the new billing process and still haven’t been
charged for your trips, there is an issue with your payment selected options.
If you have travelled and have not been billed, you’re asked to speak with
Employee Travel and Recognition (ETR) at 1-866-473-4732 to update your travel
billing file. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure valid payment
options are on file prior to commencing new travel.
Credit Card
Credit Card errors are either due to a wrong card number, expired or wrong
expiry dates or the credit was denied. As a result, the full amount you
intended to have debited from your credit card for trips taken, since the
beginning of the new billing process, will default to payroll deduction without
an applicable deduction limit. Therefore, to avoid this inconvenience in the
future, you’re encouraged to call Employee Travel and Recognition with a new or
valid credit card number. Note: If you’re not on the payroll and your credit
card is rejected, the non-payment will result in the deactivation of your
travel profile.
If you have any concerns about your travel charges, you’re asked not contact
your credit card company to discuss the charges. Instead, first verify your
trip information using your travel profile on ETS and if you’ve found an error
contact the ET&R team.
Payroll
There were instances where payroll deduction was requested for various trips,
but complete travel charges could not be deducted through payroll because of
insufficient monies earned OR the employee was not on active payroll at time of
billing. Employees who aren’t on active payroll and who have made their flight
registration with the Call Centre or using Speech Recognition must contact
Employee Travel and Recognition to provide your credit card number to cover the
charges for all travel taken to date.
Note: There is no limit as to the amount that can be deducted on payroll, and
partial deductions will not be considered. Employees who exceed $300 worth of
travel charges per month are urged to use a credit card for payment.
Remember also, you should only use one payment option per trip. You cannot
split your outbound and return using two different forms of payment, nor can
you split the same trip for different travellers, using different booking
references and two different forms of payment. Employees who have booked
travel using two forms of payment will have the round trip deducted entirely
from their credit card. Again, you’re asked to ensure the credit card is valid.
Charge it! Air Canada Jazz employees move to credit card as the only payment
option for travel. Starting July 11, Air Canada Jazz employees and travel
privilege holders must pay for their travel with a valid credit card. The next
time employees use the Employee Travel Site to register, they’re encouraged to
enter their credit card number as the default payment choice. Those who use
Speech Recognition, or call the Employee Call Centre, to book travel must
contact Employee Travel and Recognition at 1 866-473-4732, and provide a valid
credit card number. Employees who don’t provide a valid method of payment
effective after July11, or whose credit card is denied for payment, will have
their travel privileges inactivated until full payment is received.

New cinema snacks now offered on long haul N.A. flights. On May 1, in
addition to regular meal service, we introduced a unique Cinema Snacks Program
on our long haul North American flights (over three hours, 16 minutes). With
this program, we’ve recreated the theatre experience for our customers, with
one exception – the snacks come to them. Following a type trial of the program,
feedback showed our customers welcomed the addition of a convenient, reasonably
priced movie theater style snack during the in-flight film and indicated the
Cinema Snacks program enhanced their overall onboard experience. In addition,
the program is a positive revenue generator. Now, for $6 Cdn, our customers in
hospitality class can select their own cinema combo (two snacks and one Dasani
Mineral Water) from a choice of six premium snack products, then sit back,
relax and enjoy the film.
New life insurance premium rates. Effective June 1, 2003, the premium rates
applicable to the Manulife Supplementary Life Insurance Plan (for all Canadian
and foreign, active and retired employees, except in the U.S.) will be reduced
by 15%. Please note that, as is the case presently, your premium will be
increased by the 9% provincial tax if you live in Quebec, and by the 8%
provincial tax if you are an Ontario resident. A complete list of the new

. News from the Pionair districts -
- Pionairs NS/PEI District are holding a Special Meeting at the Waverley
Legion, Waverley at 1030, Friday morning the 20th of June ...(FYI ..they serve
a great "fish & chips" if anybody wants to stay for lunch!!)
- also there will also be a meeting on Wednesday, July 2nd at the Armdale Yacht
Club at 1100 ..normally we take the summer months off but due to the current
situation we have decided to have a July session...the usually excellent fare
is there as well following lunch and now we have the sailboats to watch at no
charge, what a venue for our Pionairs meetings!!....no decision yet for
August...

. Star Alliance news -
US Air invited to join Star Alliance. On the weekend, Star Alliance
unanimously approved the application of US Airways to join the world's largest
airline alliance, which will significantly expand the alliance's network
throughout the eastern U.S. and the Caribbean. No date has been set for US Air
to join the alliance, but it’s anticipated it will occur in the next 12 months.
The airline has been working closely with both United and Lufthansa, two
founding members of the alliance. US Air has 28,000 employees, a fleet of 279
aircraft and is based in Arlington, Virginia.
