Industry Travel & Recognition advise the following -

It is proposed that we increase that to two per year, and forgo
the two tier sector charges (higher cost to list/sit in J) that had
been talked about.
The relevant rule is -

Air Canada News:
Heavy Backlog In Pass Service Charge Deductions. Despite our efforts to clear
the backlog of employee travel service charge deductions, we are months behind
and have just finished auditing trip passes processed through the system from
Dec. 21 to Jan.18. We anticipate the backlog will remain until an automated
billing system is put in to place at the end of 2002. The security tax has also
required programming changes, so any travel after April 1 will not be processed
until the end of the summer. Until the backlog is cleared, Winnipeg Payrolls
will continue to deduct a maximum of $400 per month for employees paid monthly
and $300 per bi-weekly pay cheque, for any employee who has outstanding travel
passes over several months. For example, if you’re paid monthly and you’ve
traveled four times between January - March 2002, for a value of $450, you will
only be charged $400 in a given month, with the remaining $50 deducted the
following month. Exception: passes used for one trip !
with several people, for a value exceeding $400, will be deducted all at once.
We know this is frustrating and apologize.

Air Canada Offers Service To Dublin. Starting June 13th, Air Canada offers
customers daily, non-stop service from Toronto to Dublin and Shannon. This is
the only daily non-stop service between Canada and the Emerald Isle during the
peak summer period.

From the monthly newsletter of the London England Pionairs -
Pionairs annual trip will be to Halifax NS staying at the Howard Johnson
Hotel on
Sept 17/18th. The two days will include:
Covered wagon ride and steak or slamon dinner in a log cabin.
City Tour.
A visit to a 19th century brewery (with, hopefully, samples!)
Drives to Peggy's Cove, Fishermans Cove, and Lunenburg.

Christmas lunch will be on December 1st at the Savill Court Hotel, Wick
Lane, Englefield Green, Egham, Surrey. The price is gbp15.50 for a three course
meal and a glass of wine. The hotel is set in 22 acres of secluded parkland and
is a Jacobean-style mansion with a sweeping driveway.

June 24th will be the "Flight & Walk" evening at the London Eye. @ coach
loads have been booked for this popular trip, another is planned for September.

November a 'Cross Channel' trip is being planned.

Niagara Peninsula Coffee Group - June Meeting

We were pleased to welcome four new members to our group this month.  Don
Richardson, who held a number of senior positions in Air Canada and was then
appointed to establish Air Jamaica - which for a time was owned by Air Canada
before becoming wholly independent.  Don and his wife Mae now reside in Niagara
on the Lake.  Harry Raffai, an old colleague from Pearson Airport, and who now
makes his home in Vineland.  Richard Klopka ex CPA Sales Rep. in Detroit and
Cleveland and now living in Niagara Falls.  Also John Luty, former Nordair
employee and his wife Olga were introduced and welcomed into the Air Canada
family. 
Chairman, Jim Morgan, gave a report on the main highlights of the
Pionairs A.G.M. in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Gord Dalziel, recently returned from
an Interline cruise in Hawaii, gave the group an insight into the benefits of
Interline travel.  Finally, our hardworking Secy/Treas. Isabel Fox offered a
word of advice to everyone concerning the need to be on guard.  Isabel and her
husband Alex were recently robbed in broad daylight while working in their
yard.  They didn't see the intruders who entered their house and stole cash and
other items and left through the front door - leaving the door unbolted, which
alerted Isabel to the robbery.  Police advised them that these individuals are
very bold and if challenged they will claim to be looking for a runaway dog or
some such story.
Bob Hainstock won the monthly prize of an Italian dinner for two
donated by Frados - the restaurant where we hold our meetings.  Margaret Morgan
won a bottle of Niagara wine from the Pilliteri Winery.  Visitors to our
meetings are encouraged to stay for lunch and fit in a visit to one of the fine

. Gord and June Dalziel sent us a write up of their recent cruise -

It was a Great First Experience for me ( Gord ). The weather
was superb --Mid 80's with full sun every day.
Our trip commenced with a 9 hr., 47 min Flight YYZ to HNL,
on Air Canada. We were well looked after. Saw Three Movies.
Stayed at a Pre-arranged Ohana Waikiki Surf Hotel, which had
302 rooms and was located at 2200 Kuhio Ave, Waikiki. We used
their 1 - 800 - 668 - 7444 number to make the arrangements.
Had to show Airline I.D. on check -in as the room was waiting for us.
The hotel is located at Kuhio Ave., and Lewers Street.
This hotel is off the Beach some distance but on a Main Bus Line,
which made travel anywhere on the entire Island very easy.
It is only a short walk to many stores in the Royal Hawaiian
Shopping Centre and The Galleria Shopping Centre which made
access very easy. Shopping was also about 15 min bus ride to
the Ala Moana Centre. This was a Major Bus Connection location also.
The bus service is $ 1.50 each, each time you board THE BUS,
which their service is called. Transfers are valid within
about 30 Mins. A Vacationer's Pass good for 4 days, from
the first days use, is a more economical way to travel, for short stays.
A highly recommended Eatery near the Hotel, was Moose McGllycddy's
Pub, at 310 Lewers St. We found the stay pleasant, and the
Food Good, both at Breakfast and Dinner. The Beer was plentiful,
particularly during Happy Hour.
Another location for a Nice Fish meal was the Lewer Street Fish Company,
at 247 Lewers St. While in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre
the Royal Steak and Seafood Restaurant on the Third level was Good...
Other areas visited, were the Kodak Hula Show, which is now called
Pleasant Hula Show as it is owned by a Local Family now. It was still
worth the Visit. The USS Arizona Memorial was well worth the
Wait to see it. The Polynesian Cultural Centre some 35 miles from
Waikiki was well worth the day that it took to see all of the grounds,
including the Evening show after a buffet dinner.
There is lots to see and do, on the Island.

The Cruise departed Aloha Towers, HNL at 23:59 on May 22nd
and arrived 07:00 June 02nd at YVR, after making stops at
Nawiliwili, Kauai ; Kailua Kona ; Lahaina, Maui for 2 days;
and Hilo, Hawaii, before starting the 5 day trip to Vancouver.
With the exception of Lahaina, all stops were from 07:00 to 18:00
the same day. The ship, Royal Caribbean, Vision of the Sea's
kept a very good Schedule. We were kept as busy on board,
as we wanted to be each day and evening. Top Marks for the
Ships Staff. It was mentioned a couple of times that this Cruise
had some 400 plus, Airline people on board. among the approx.,
2,300 guests.
We enjoyed our Flight back home, from YVR on an A.C. B-747 Aircraft.
At this time we would like to " Thank All " who responded to our earlier
request for Hotel information in Waikiki..... Thank You......
I believe this is a Great means of sharing Travel Information,
so we can all benefit from each other's experiences. ALOHA ! ! !
