British Airways first airline to use warning cards on ground. The Associated
Press is reporting that British Airways is the first airline to introduce a
system of soccer-style warning cards for disruptive passengers on the ground.
According to the report, the airline says any passenger who is disruptive or
abusive toward a member of its ground staff will be shown a yellow warning
card. If they do not calm down, they may be refused aboard their flight, and
police may be called in extreme cases. The carrier is already using the yellow
card system in the air, reportedly to some success.
(Perhaps, in north America, a scheme of 'yards lost' may be applied or time in
a penalty box which means the miscreant would have to run further or faster to
catch their flight - eds)

. Air Canada news -
Tango’s one year anniversary sale brings in the numbers. Anyone curious to
know how many $1 one year anniversary fares were sold during the two-week Tango
by Air Canada anniversary sale? Over 7,000 Canadians, who booked their flights
exclusively at www.flytango.com, received randomly selected $1 fares that were
available on every Canadian route Tango flies. All fares were subject to
applicable fees and taxes. What a way to celebrate!

Lockheed Constellation returns to Europe -
Saturday 28th September 2002
At 13:00 hours local time, the Lockheed Constellation of the Dutch
Aviation Museum Aviodome arrived in the Netherlands. During the flight
Manston to Lelystad the Connie was escorted by an Orion of the Dutch
Navy Air Service and a Fokker 50 of KLM Cityhopper.
The Lockheed Constellation N749NL from the Dutch National Aviation Museum
Aviodome has arrived in the Netherlands. After almost 2 years of hard
work in Arizona and a delivery flight that took 2 weeks, the arrival in the
Netherlands was a big success. After the official arrival in the Netherlands,
Connie flew to Schiphol Airport. Here, in one of the largest KLM hangars, the
Connie is being painted in the old KLM livery and further maintenance will be
performed. Next year, 2003, the Connie will be one of the big attractions in
the new Aviation Themepark in Lelystad (60 kilometers Northeast of Amsterdam).
Check the web site www.aviodome.nl/connieng.htm for a complete story of the
flight from the US to Holland complete with some stunning pictures.
Carl tells us about his early involvement -
KLM was the first company outside the USA to purchase the Lockheed's in those
days. I worked for the now defunct Fokker Factory producing Gloster Meteors and
Sea Furies and dreamed about ever working on such majestic bird which
materialized in the early sixties when KLM ferried the last conny via YUL to
the States (in those days we handled the KLM DC8-30 in Dorval) and I was
honoured by changing the batteries!
Ever since the conny left Holland there was a group of people who strived to
have the bird back and they succeeded and it will be painted in the than KLM
livery and will be moved to the National Museum "AvioDome"
So much for my involvement with the L749.

. Terry's travel tips.
We have the following answer to the May Day in NetLetter nr 732 -
We were in Sydney last year and had no accommodations for the evening we flew
in. We went straight to the tourist help/accommodation desk in the airport and
found they were most helpful. They found us room at reasonable rates at Potts
Point / Kings Cross in the hotel Deverres. Very satisfactory and close to many
restaurants, B.Y.O.B. and Metro . We have travelled across Australia quite a
number of times and used the self-help desks in various cities and found them
very useful. Happy travels.
I have an idea for your search for accommodation in Sydney Australia. We
offer those who work for an airline - and their friends - condominium
stays from as low as $300USD for one week based on double.
The availability can be checked on line at www.interline.ca/resorts.htm
Simply enter you destination and check in date and you will be shown
what is available in your time range. As the inventory is updated daily
we suggest you check back often for such popular destinations.
If I can help you with anything else do let me know. I can be reached at
the number below weekdays from 6AM to 2PM PST or simply reply to this

"A number of years ago George and I stayed at the Masonic Hall, one street
behind the Main Street. We found our room most comfortable, food served on
another floor to be excellent. There was dancing on another floor. Hope this
will be of assistance to you. Bernice Laing"

Rules to live by:
It's always better to be down here wishing you were up there, than being
up there wishing you were down here.
The propeller is just a big fan in front of the aircraft to keep the
pilot cool. If it stops, the pilot will start sweating.
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No one has collided with the
New Zealand's airforce is hiring private aircraft to carry out parachute
practice after government cuts.
Breakdowns have forced many older aircraft out of service, despite technicians
"chewing gum and string' efforts at repairs.
