. Some of you may be experiencing trouble accessing the Pionairs web site and
get results similar to those mentioned here -
re: I'm unable to access the Pionairs page

A problem, chaps, and I've tried repeatedly to solve this. When I click on
Pionairs I get a blank page with a symbol in the center (a small circle with a
slash bar). Click on this and msg appears "You need Macro Media Flash, etc. &
"click below to download." Do this/check "Download Mgr"-download comp, lete. The
blank page/symbol re-appears with msg "You do not have plug-ins, etc. To get
plug-ins click "View Plug In Directory, etc" below. Click on this & I'm
returned to first sequence again (You need Macro Media, etc.).

acfamily network responds with this help -

You have two options:

1. Bookmark this url for the Pionairs website as this is the page that the
Macromedia Flash Introduction page jumps to anyway.
www.pionairs.ca/acp-aboutus.htm

2. Go to the Macromedia website and download the program required. This is the
better way if you are using the Internet extensively, because there are
thousands of websites that use the Macromedia program to design their
introduction page or the entire website. We believe you are using a Mac, so go
to http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
Scroll down the page and you will find the various versions for Macs. Select
the appropriate one for your operating system and the browser you use. Download
it and install it - it is a straight forward install. If you have a problem,
you will have to check with your Mac dealer or nearest Mac expert.

. Found on the internet.
Why is Canada Post changing the provincial postal symbol for Newfoundland
and Labrador?
On December 6, 2001, an amendment to the federal Constitution Act officially
approved a name change from the province of Newfoundland to the province of
Newfoundland and Labrador. Canada Post subsequently received an official
request from the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial government to implement
NL as the province's new provincial postal symbol.

When will this change be effective?
On October 21, 2002, Canada Post's mail processing equipment will recognize NL
as the provincial symbol for Newfoundland and Labrador

. Terry's travel tips.
From the RAPCASN eMailNews issued by Duane Frerichs -
Subject: Alamo Car Rental.
ALAMO RENT A CAR USA.
I rented a midsize Pontiac Grand Am in both California and Florida
last month on the "prepaid" rate in Canadian dollars. Here are the
details; you must book ahead and prepay by credit card. Ask for rate
code 4E which is for travel agents. I had no problem when I picked up
the cars.
I picked up one car at LAX and there was no drop-off charge at San
Diego 3 days later. Because it was not over a weekend, it cost $50
CDN/day. On arrival in FLL after our cruise, I kept another car for a
week at $189 CDN for the 7 days ($27/day) and dropped it off at MIA.
The fee includes the following; all costs including gas (return
empty) with no drop off charge. Also included is a mid-size 4 door
automatic with air, additional driver, collision damage waiver, extended
protection, prepaid gas, concession recoupment fee, sales tax,
tire/battery fee, licence fee and unlimited mileage.

. Smilies.
Ray Stevens, in FLL sent us this one -
Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist!! (true story)

> Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch dead chickens at
the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all
traveling at maximum velocity.

The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with
airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the
windshields of their new high speed trains.

Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers.
When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken
hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed
it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the
engineer's back-rest in two and embedded itself in the back wall of the
cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment,
along with the designs of the windshield and begged the US scientists
for suggestions.

You're going to love this......

NASA responded with a one-line memo: "Defrost the chicken."
