. Found on the internet.
Delta Air Lines is saying a big "thank you" to an Alaska town that gave a
gracious welcome to a Delta flight diverted there in a precautionary landing
on March 23. Residents of Cold Bay, Alaska, -- population 69 -- took 220
passengers and crew members into their homes, cooked breakfast and
provided blankets after Delta Flight 79, a McDonnell-Douglas 11 aircraft,
made an unscheduled stop at the Alaska Peninsula village en route to Tokyo
from Los Angeles.
In gratitude for the town's hospitality, Delta will provide $7,000 to enable
Cold Bay to receive a matching grant from the state of Alaska for a new two-way
radio system for local emergency medical technicians (EMT). Delta also sent
a gift of 50 cases of fresh fruit and vegetables not grown on the windswept tundra
and will send Delta T-shirts for the kids at Cold Bay School. Jim Zerbe,
Delta will present a check to the mayor, as well as a plaque officially thanking
the people of Cold Bay, in a ceremony this week.

A copy of the 45 page decision by the arbitrator entitled Pilot Seniority has
been made available  on the acfamily web site, together with two articles which
appeared recently in the national press regarding allowing foreign airlines access
to Canada.
Alan advises us -
I have set up a page so that those interested can download these files and get
the Adobe Acrobat reader as well.

. Smilie.
Tom Martin found this one -
Former ramp and customer service people might get a kick out of a bit from
the January issue of Airways.
It seems there was concern over the number of lost luggage claims involving
flights at London City airport - LYC.  Was it theft or what?  So one airline sent an
executive to investigate.  He could find no reason.  When he boarded for his
return flight and looked out the window he saw a tractor pulling carts loaded
with luggage and as the driver sped up and turned the corner he saw several
bags slide off the carts and into the Thames.  When the river was dredged they
found at least 50 missing suitcases.

The same January issue has a good article on the demise of Canadian Airlines .
