MICROSOFT UNVEILS FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002:
"Flight Simulator 2002" has a
few new buzzers and bells that will thrill the aviator as well as the
computer nerd.  The new release, scheduled to be available this fall,
features several new aircraft, including the Cessna Caravan on floats,
the Boeing 747-400 and the Cessna 172SP Skyhawk.  Controllers got you
rattled?  Practice your communication skills with the interactive air
traffic control system.  Happy simulating...

Star Alliance News:

SAS to acquire it's competitor, Braathens.
As reported in the Aviation Daily, with SAS's move to acquire it's Norwegian
rival Braathens, the European airline industry is moving toward even more consolidation.
As the deal would effectively give SAS a virtual monopoly on Norwegian domestic routes,
it is subject to approval by the Norwegian and possibly European antitrust authorities.

. From the YYZNEWS issued by Brian Dunn -

Air Canada will be painting eight different airline logos from the combined "past"
of Air Canada and Canadian Airlines on eight different A320s between now and the
end of June.  That would be one logo per aircraft.
They are the logos of Trans Canada Airlines, Nordair, EPA, Wardair, Transair,
PWA, CPA, and Canadian Airlines Intl.

. Pionair AGM - Calgary -
Sheila Moscoe sent us this report of Pionairs AGM
"I just came back from the Pionairs AGM in YYC. It was great!
Since I'm relatively a new retiree, it was amazing how many people I knew
and how many new people I met!
It was also a pleasure to meet former members of C.A.I.R.E. who were
introduced to all of us.
The Business Meetings were extremely informative and important.
Next years meeting will be in Halifax.
The dinner/dance and banquet were well served by the Westin Hospitality
Staff and the food presentation was very appetizing. The swing band had
everyone up on the dance floor!
I hope that the new retirees will join the Pionairs Organization and help
support us.
So, if you're reading this Netletter now and are not a Pionair, please sign
up. It's only $7.50 a year. Well worth the investment.

. Smilies.
From the Customer Comments file - Airline anonymous!
"The passenger rang to report he had taken a sandwich home with him off
the above flight as he wasn't hungry at the time. He just got it out of his
bag yesterday(!!) & noticed it just contained one thin slice of lettuce
& nothing else."

"When I travel in business class I expect a pleasant flight, no to be
surrounded by children running wild in the alley. I was subjected to a
food fight, up to six children between two & five years doing kung-fu and
climbing over seats ... are you running a creche or an airline - I even saw
a nappy being changed twice, complete with smell."

"This time the nightmare was worse.... a ruined birthday and a girfriend who
hasn't spoken to me since!
Q. What's the difference between an angry girlfriend and a terrorist?
A. At least you can negotiate with a terrorist."
