. Need to know.
Another great Family Affair sell-off Abbotsford-Calgary.
Eligible family members can take advantage of yet another terrific Family Affair sell-off.
The special $99 CA fare is in effect until July 20.

Retirees,  and widows/widowers are not eligible for compassionate travel privileges.

We have been receiving several messages regarding problems with travel when using
passes, especially when travel is on the Regionals.
Industry Travel suggests that a copy of the article published on page 9 of the February
'HORIZONS' be taken with you. Should you be questioned about the completion of your passes, show this copy to the agent concerned and refer them to CIC 80/85, which contains
the same information.

The following from Employee Communications -
Letters about enhancements to Speech Recognition and the Employee Travel Website will be on the way later this week. Active employees will receive a letter at the workplace outlining enhancements made to Speech Recognition and the Employee Travel Website. Retirees and widows/widowers will receive the letter at home. The letters outline the recently announced enhancements made to Speech Recognition and the Employee Travel Website and changes to the employee travel policy. The Employee Travel Website is now ready for you to list yourself, eligible dependants, parents, and travel partners for personal travel. Partner travel listings can only be made using the Employee Travel Website. All eligible self-ticketing employees must use this technology for personal travel listing.

. Found on the internet.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: A UPS employee became self-loading cargo
when he took a nap onboard a UPS 747 bound for the Far East.  The
Anchorage-based cargo handler woke up when the jet was over the Pacific
Ocean -- bound for Hong Kong.  It was too late (read: expensive) for the
captain to turn the jumbo around, so the employee had to make himself
comfortable for the remainder of the flight.  UPS officials contacted
government representatives in both China and Korea (the jet's next
scheduled stop) to warn them of the undocumented "package" onboard and a
UPS representative noted that "our human resources and security people
are scheduled to sit down and talk with him."  Whatever the outcome, it
seems likely that the handler won't be getting any frequent flyer miles
out of the deal.

. From the YYZNEWS issued by Brian Dunn -
Canada and the United Arab Emirates have signed an air transport agreement, allowing airlines designated by each government to operate services between the two countries.  The airlines will have the right to operate their own aircraft or use codeshare arrangements.  It is expected that Air Canada will operate services beyond London and/or Frankfurt to Dubai with their Star Alliance partner carriers.

. Smilie.
From: Murielle St-Germain <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.>
Air Lingus Flight 101 was flying from Heathrow to Dublin one night,
with Paddy the Pilot, and Shamus the co-pilot. As they approached Dublin
airport, they looked out the front window.
"B'jeesus," said Paddy, "Will ye look at how short dat runway is."
"You're not kiddin, Paddy," replied Shamus.
"Dis is gonna be one a' de trickiest landings you're ever gonna see,"
said  Paddy.
"You're not kiddin, Paddy," replied Shamus.
"Right, Shamus, when I give de signal, you put de engines in reverse,"
said Paddy.
"Right, I'll be doing dat," replied Shamus.
"And den ye put de flaps down straight away," said Paddy.
"Right, I'll be doing dat," replied Shamus.
"And den ye stamp on dem brakes as hard as ye can," said Paddy.
"Right, I'll be doing dat," replied Shamus.
"And den ye pray to de Mother Mary with all a' your soul," said Paddy.
"I be doing dat already," replied Shamus.
So they approached the runway with Paddy and Shamus full of nerves and
sweaty palms. As soon as the wheels hit the ground, Shamus put the
engines in reverse, put the flaps down, stamped on the brakes and prayed to
Mother Mary with all of his soul. Amidst roaring engines, squealing of tires
and lots of smoke, the plane screeched to a halt centimetres from the end of
the runway, much to the relief of Paddy and Shamus and everyone on
board.
As they sat in the cockpit regaining their composure, Paddy looked out
the front window and said to Shamus, "Dat has gotta be de shortest runway
I have EVER seen in me whole life. Shamus looked out the side window
and replied, "Yeah Paddy, but look how wide it is."

The passengers were leaving the plane after landing, and one smiling, satisfied passenger paused to congratulate the flight attendant. "Stewardess," he said happily, "I want to compliment you and the crew and especially the captain for getting here right on time. It's not often that an airline gets to where it's going exactly when they claim it will. I'm going to call your home office and let them know how pleased I am." "Why, thank you, sir," the flight attendant answered, "but I think you should know--this is yesterday's flight."
