COMMENT LETTER TO THE NETLETTER EDITORS.:
Bill Rowe's piece in the latest NetLetter (629) was very illuminating and
comforting
if you are a member of the canadian pension plan.
Bill's title/position is not "Canadian Pionairs Pension and Benefit
Representative"
but <Overall>" Pionairs Pension and Benefir Plan Rep" ....
since the NetLetter serves NOT ONLY Canadians, it would have been
appropriate to
also cover the situation relative to US and other countries' AC Pension
Plans.
Other countries' TCA/AC/CPAIR employees made major contributions over the
years
which helped make the company what it is today (and has been even before
Robert took over).
As a world airline, let's get this attitude of "Canada First" out of our
system; Air Canada is no longer a Crown Corporation!. The same Company
source that provided Bill with the status report on the Canadian Plan would
have been able to provide similar information on the safety (or otherwise)
of the Company's investment of our pension contributions and the Company's
matching funds in countries outside of Canada.

I've received some queries from readers re the safety of the U.S. and U.K.
Pension plans.
Pensions are protected in much the same way as Canada by their respective
countries legislation. I've been advised that AC has separate rules and
administrative procedures for each plan. The AC-U.S. Pension Plan and the
AC-U.K. Pension Trust are both in full compliance with their respective
government legislation and regulations. Furthermore both plans are fully
funded and in very good shape despite the downturn in the markets.

L-1011 Tristar. The book is very well done with several pictures of the
Tristar in Air Canada colors. Jim worked at Lockeed for many years and was
project manager for the Lockheed CP-140 Aurora. Jim has also authored
books on the Boeing 777 and the Lockheed L-188 Electra. I am pleased to
say I have all three books and I am very impressed with photography and
detail particularly from a pilots point of view. The books, personally

TIPS TO REMEMBER
Tips to remember when you travel on both Air Canada and Tango by Air Canada.
If you travel on both Air Canada mainline and Tango flights (AC series
6000 - 6099 )
in one trip, remember that you must register two PNRs :
one for Tango and one for AC,
however, only one trip pass is required and you will only be charged once.
Self-ticketing employees and retirees must make their reservations via the
Employee Travel website or by calling Speech Recognition. Non-self-ticketing
employees and retirees should call the Employee Call Centre.
As there is no baggage transfer between Tango and AC, any checked baggage
must
be picked up at each station and checked in again for the next flight leg.
Travel priorities remain the same.

BAGGAGE
To check baggage or not to check baggage, that is the question.
Baggage will not be boarded unless it is associated with a
passenger on the aircraft.
This is because of the new security measures.
A positive baggage match is required for all passengers, including standby.
Checked baggage is allowed when travelling standby, but there is no
guarantee
that your bag will make the flight.
For this reason, employees are asked to travel with carry-on baggage only.
Also ensure that your travel partners are aware of these new
baggage procedures. By travelling light, you will help the Company reduce
the
number of flight delays and misplaced baggage.
