. Need to know.
From Employee Travel -
New policies for booking positive space travel.
On November 30, new policies are being  introduced to make positive space
bookings for business and pleasure easier. The most important change is the
reduction of the number of restricted flights. Fewer restrictions mean better
flight options when traveling on AC, Tango, Air Canada Regional and Central
Mountain Air, Calm Air and Air Georgian.

Here are the changes you must keep in mind when arranging for positive space
travel:
Travel can only be booked in H class (economy) or C class (executive) within 21
days of the first flight departure. All other subsequent flights on the same
PNR are not restricted and can be booked anytime.
Flight restrictions for positive space travel have been reduced to only
Rapidair flights. Fewer blackouts mean that there are more choices for positive
space travel.
Rapidair restrictions do not apply to passengers with confirmed connections
between Air Canada and ACR.
Wait-listing in H class is not permitted.
Note: Send your questions regarding the program to Employee Travel at

. From the YYZNEWS issued by Brian Dunn -
The Globe & Mail published a story last week, written by a Jan Wong,
bragging about how she smuggled a box cutter and other sharp objects onto
some Air Canada flights when she travelled out west. The revelation
embarrassed the airline and set off more calls for Transport Minister David
Collenette to federalize the passenger-screening process. She was going to
Victoria to attend a Canadian Association of Journalists writers symposium,
sponsored by Air Canada. No where in Ms. Wong's story did she mention one
entirely germane fact; that Air Canada paid for her tickets on the trip
from Toronto to Victoria, to Calgary and back to Toronto. As part of its
sponsorship of the CAJ event, the airline provided "contra" --free tickets
in exchange for ads in the conference program. Ms. Wong, who gave a talk on
her "Lunch With" column was among those who received the gratis
round-trippers. Indeed, the ticket Ms. Wong used on her box-cutter flights
was stamped "VIP" and "journalist" --a fact that she allowed in the story
without further explanation of its origins.
Ethical questions aside, Ms. Wong's stunt places the CAJ in a rather
precarious position, having a prime sponsor which was so badly sandbagged.
"Obviously, it puts us in an awkward position," CAJ president Rob Cribb told
us, "Air Canada is aware we had no control over the story and we would not
be responsible, (but) it certainly would have been easier on us if the Globe
& Mail had financed the trip." (The above report was from the Ottawa
Citizen--Nov 11th)

Netscape Messenger Tip #1 What is Netscape Messenger
and Messenger Express?
Netscape Messenger is Air Canada's new office e-mail system.
It is being introduced over the next few months and will soon
become our standard system. Messenger Express is the tool that provides
access to your e-mail account via the Internet/Aeronet
from a computer where the Netscape software is not available.
With Messenger Express, employees can access their e-mail from another
office, from home, or on the road - anywhere in the
world. For more information, check out the Netscape Messenger
e-mail Resource Centre on Aeronet.

Here is a good tip to avoid spreading a virus in case you get one.
In your address book, just open a new contact with 0000 (this is zero)
without an e-mail address. This contact will go on top of your list and if a
virus comes in with the intention of going to all your friends, your PC will
show an error and will stop the spread. It makes sense to me!
From one of our readers via RAPCAN.
Your writer regarding this subject is on the money (and will save you money
if you heed his advice.) Also be aware that NAV 2002 will do an automatic
live update for one year free from the date you install the program. (This
is different than previous versions where a popup notice would advise you
that it was time to update - this does it for you when you go online.) For
email it will also scan outgoing mail as well as incoming. This is a
blessing for all your recipients should you have a virus. One more thing,
delete all nabbed viruses - don't use the repair or to quarantine options.
Safe computing.
