COFFEE, TEA OR ME?
Six ex-stewardesses of major airlines asked this in fun during the first fund-raising affair of the Stewardess Emeritus Association in Vancouver.
The group is comprised of former stewardesses and was formed for the dual purpose of raising money for worthy charities and to hold various social functions of interest to former flight service personnel.

 Reader Submitted Photos - The photos and information below was sent to us by our faithful readers. If you would like to send us some old photos you have lying around. we will consider them for publication in a future NetLetter. We prefer good quality airline related photos, with descriptive text included with the submission.
Frank Pedder has sent some photos from the coffee break for his group of retirees of Purchasing and Supply Stores in YUL which meets at Bar 12 in Lachine, Quebec the first Tuesday of the month.
We talk about what we have done in the past month and about colleges that we've seen in the past month or the last time they were with us. We all enjoy a great roast beef or steak dinner and rehash over old times. Some are only retired for a year or so and others are over 20 years. I have been taking photos of the group which changes from month to month as we average about 9 members and we are trying to get more involved with the Pionairs.

Flying Colors! Creative Airline paint jobs!
The sky is blue, so why should your plane be simply white? Paint it in all the colors of a sunset... and pretty up the skies!
Some airline companies are clearly out-painting competition with their groovy air fleet. Often called "aircraft livery", such special paint schemes can be exciting and even inspirational. Japan Airlines with their Disney jumbo jets comes to mind, in particular, plus Australian Qantas Airways has been commissioning famous artists to come up with exotic art for their "birds".

It has been a while since I last emailed.
I wanted to bring to your attention a DVD that I recently purchased. It is a re-release of the 2003 Canadian North DVD focusing on the 737-200 and F28 - 1000 (there is more on the B-737). The flight destinations covered in the 186 minutes of running time are Diavik Mine, Edmonton, Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet, Norman Wells, Calgary, Yellowknife, Ottawa.
I am sure many of your readers of the Netletter must have flown into some of these destinations as pilots, crew, or passengers. I have provided you with a link to Just Planes Videos Inc. should you wish to get more information on this particular DVD. I have really enjoyed watching the DVD. I particularly enjoyed the landing and take off from Iqaluit as I was there myself back in 1976. Also the landing on the gravel airstrip at Diavik Mine reminded me of my Northern mine experiences as a young man landing at a remote mining camp to work. Anyway I just wanted to pass this along for your information.

Jim Griffith sends us this comment regarding NetLetter nr 1167 -
What a great issue. The F/A's poem was terrific; what a writer! I think that she and it almost has to have been a she, reveals a lot about the job, its challenges, and her personal feeling at the end of the day of satisfaction of a job well done, as it was then and even some of way it is now.
It really is interesting that, back then the airline realized that if it and indeed air travel was to grow, it depended exclusively on a good relationship between the customer and the personalized contact of the front line employees such as flight attendants and airport customer service personnel. A lesson that West Jet market specialists have certainly capitalized on?
Kudos' to Alan. What a great idea. I've always been interested in reading old copies of Between Ourselves and I have a special interest in TCA's contribution to the war effort of WW II which I think has been neglected by historians.

Dad had been Halifax station manager before being transferred to Montreal HQ in 1970

 Sometimes we receive articles and information that just doesn't fit in our other areas. This is where it goes! A320 c/n 302 C-FMEQ Air Canada returned to Pegasus and is now leased by Soloman Airlines via Pegasus Aviation.
Well we gave the "girls" their say in the "Women in aviation" recently, only fair to give the front end crew a say -
