About us!
Since October 1995, Vesta Stevenson and Terry Baker have been issuing an email newsletter for those ex Air Canada types who have provided us with their email addresses. The Newsletter was created by Vesta, who gave the name 'NetLetter' and added 'Between Ourselves' - a TCA periodical with which you are probably familiar with from the 50's and 60's. It was then changed to "Between Yourselves" to avoid confusion when "Horizons" resurrected the name. Then finally simplified to just "The NetLetter".
We believe that our NetLetter, which originates from Vancouver Island, was the FIRST to use this medium to disperse information for retirees of Air Canada.
The NetLetter contains airline related information such as anecdotes or stories supplied by some of the recipients, Internet tips, travel news, cheap... excuse me, "inexpensive" accommodations, tours, interline travel, and, in some small way, we help keep our Air Canada family together and in touch.
Our 'NetLetter' is NOT sponsored by any Pionair group, nor are we seeking any financial support, only the Internet email addresses of those who would like to receive our 'NetLetter'. Please forward this to other retirees who can then subscribe right from the forwarded link at the bottom of this email.

Dear NetLetter,
Vesta and Terry wish to acknowledge the help that Alan Rust has provided in getting the new web based edition of our NetLetter launched using Constant Contact software.
Our launch was so successful and virtually trouble free that the Pionairs have now followed our lead and started to launch a version of their newsletter using the same software.
We now estimate that the NetLetter is read by over 2700 retirees when counting our email distribution and those that print the NetLetter and give them out to their friends.

Cancellation of Aer Lingus ZED and ID50 agreement. - On May 1, 2005 Aer Lingus (EI) will cancel its Ticketing and Baggage Agreement (MITA) with Air Canada. When this occurs, the Interline Agreement which offers employees reduced fares of 50 per cent and zonal discounts on EI flights will be immediately cancelled. While the Employee Travel Site will continue to show the agreement as active until the end of this month, any tickets issued for travel after May 1 will be invalid. The Irish carrier is making this move in order to cut costs.

The Winnipeg Flying Club has been in operation since 1927 as one of Canada's largest flight training facilities.
Recent trends in the aviation training business, changes in their costs and a reduction in revenue commensurate with the current industry has compelled The Winnipeg Flying Club Board of Directors to suspend operations.
The aircraft and buildings of The Winnipeg Flying Club will be made for sale immediately. Pending the sale of their buildings The Winnipeg Flying Club will resume operations sometime in the future.
The Winnipeg Flying Club owns outright their clubhouse and hangar buildings at St. Andrews Airport.
Staff will be available to customers and students that require access to our facilities by appointment at 338-7927.
Canadian Aviation Historical Association - Vancouver Island Chapter - Please note that the Vancouver Island Chapter CAHS has a change of date for the next meeting The May meeting has had to be cancelled.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 1, 2005 in the Norseman Room at the BC Aviation Museum, 1:00 pm. A notice will go out closer to the date with details of the meeting.
Elwood White and Peter Smith will have a book reading and signing of their long awaited bookof the first 100 years of West Coast aviation. The published title is "Wings Across the Water". The signing will be at;

President Bush orders review of new passport rules Last Updated Fri, 15 Apr 2005 13:08:10 EDT CBC News
WASHINGTON - Washington is having second thoughts about plans that would require Canadians entering the U.S. to have passports.
U.S. President George W. Bush said Thursday that he had ordered a review of the proposed U.S. Homeland Security department rules, which were announced last week.
Under the new rules, Canadians without a passport would be barred from entering the U.S. after Dec. 31, 2006, unless they have a special U.S. "laser visa" border crossing card that includes a fingerprint or other "biometric identifier" such as a retinal scan.

But after a speech to the American Society of Newspaper Editors on Thursday, Bush expressed concern over the potential effects of the new rules.
"When I first read that in the newspaper about the need to have passports, particularly the day- crossings that take place ... I said, 'What's going on here?'," said Bush.
"I thought there was a better way to expedite the legal flow of traffic and people."
The White House didn't say why the president was unaware of the plans, which were announced by his administration on April 5.
Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan said Bush's review shows the president supports negotiations between the two countries over "accepted forms of ID."
The changes could have a major impact on tourism between the U.S. and Canada.
Roughly $1.5-billion worth of goods cross the Canada- U.S. border daily, and about 16 million Canadians entered the U.S. last year.

A minister goes to heaven and is waiting in line at the Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who's dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket and jeans.
Saint Peter addresses this guy, "Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven?"
The guy replies, "I'm Joey Shasta, retired Air Canada pilot.
Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the pilot, "Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom." The pilot goes into Heaven with his robe and staff.
Next it's the minister's turn. He stands erect and booms out, "I am Joseph Snow, pastor of Saint Mary's in Pasadena for the last 43 years."
Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the minister, "Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom."
"Just a minute," says the minister..."that man was a pilot and he gets a silken robe and golden staff. How can this be?"
"Up here - - we work by results," says Saint Peter, "while you preached, people slept; while he flew, people prayed."
