About us!

Since October 1995, Vesta Stevenson and Terry Baker have been issuing an email newsletter for those ex Air Canada types who have provided us with their email addresses. The Newsletter was created by Vesta, who gave the name 'NetLetter' and added 'Between Ourselves' - a TCA periodical with which you are probably familiar with from the 50's and 60's. It was then changed to "Between Yourselves" to avoid confusion when "Horizons" resurrected the name. Then finally simplified to just "The NetLetter".

We believe that our NetLetter, which originates from Vancouver Island, was the FIRST to use this medium to disperse information for retirees of Air Canada.

The NetLetter contains airline related information such as anecdotes or stories supplied by some of the recipients, Internet tips, travel news, cheap... excuse me, "inexpensive" accommodations, tours, interline travel, and, in some small way, we help keep our Air Canada family together and in touch.

Our 'NetLetter' is NOT sponsored by any Pionair group, nor are we seeking any financial support, only the Internet email addresses of those who would like to receive our 'NetLetter'. Please forward this to other retirees who can then subscribe right from the forwarded link at the bottom of this email.

We hope you like the change. If you prefer the older text style you can still print this from our archives. (more info below)

  • Further to the information in NetLetter 872 regarding the replacement of the current T421/423 stock with the new T420A ticket stock. We have been advised by ETS that the old stock must be used before the T460A is introduced. Due to security concerns, there are no plans to have a version on the web site for downloading.

Jazz says goodbye to the BAe 146.

Yesterday marked the end of an era at Air Canada Jazz as its final BAe 146 flight (aircraft 201) departed Toronto on its last journey enroute to Halifax. Because this aircraft has played an integral part in the history of Jazz, a special employee souvenir publication is being designed and will be distributed to all Jazz employees in the next few weeks.

  • On Saturday 12 February it has been exactly eighty years ago since Edmond Thieffry flew for the first time from Brussels to Congo. In that time Thieffry travelled 51 days before reaching the African country, today the Airbus 330-300 of SN Brussels Airlines connects the European capital in less than 8 hours with Kinshasa.

B-777 TAKES ON ENERGIZER BUNNY, A380 RESTRAINED BY GIRTH As technological achievements go, the new Boeing 777-200LR may set a noteworthy standard for range and efficiency. Using lighter materials and more efficient engines, Boeing engineers were able to create a plane that can fly more than 10,000 miles nonstop. Now, they just have to come up with passengers and crew that can take 20 hours or more of confinement in the aluminum tube. The new plane is expected to be used by airlines to service less- important long-distance routes, such as Edinburgh to Perth, Australia, and Manchester to Shanghai. The busier routes are expected to be dominated by the new Airbus A380, although it won't be making many stops in the U.S. anytime soon. The 555-to-800-seat behemoth is simply too big for most U.S. airports.
