The group was made up of Ron and Mae Matthews VE7TH, Ozzie and Rene Candy VE7KX, Ches Richard and his wife VE7CCH, Capt. Joe Lorimer and his wife and Capt Bill Bates and his wife. They were part of tour group of 800 people. They went to Shanghai and part way up the Yangtze River, then to the Grand Canal and took a barge trip up the Canal. They then went to a seaport city in Manchuria, and then by bus to Beijing. They spent about 2 1/2 days there and visitied the Great Wall of China, but unfortunately it snowed the time that they where there, and did not see too much. They also took in Tiaanamin Square and the Forbidden City and other points of interest in that city. They had a banquet sponsored by the Mayor of Beijing, and were seranaded by a Chinese Symphony orchestra. They then went to Puzan in Korea and then to Nagasaki in Japan and then departed from Osaka back to Vancouver. Unfortunately the weather was poor for most of the trip except for Nagasaki, but they really enjoyed the trip. Most of the accomodation was aboard the cruise ship but they did spend a couple nights in luxurous hotels in Beijing. Charles Mackie -=o0o=- .
