Two corrections to the email list in Netletter nr 48 - Eric Lalonde is now at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Eric Lalonde tells us that the retirees from the C&SS Department of Dorval (YUL) meet the first Thursday of each month for lunch at the Dynasty Resturant in Centennial Plaza, Sources Road in Dollard. If you are in town around that time, drop by and renew friendships. -=o0o=- . This information from Vesta as a followup to the article in Netletter nr 48 - * * * This message was from BOB MORIYAMA to ALL * * * Thanks to everybody expressing interest in developments at Pearson. I see we're still getting messages about the unofficial viewing area near Silver Dart/Renforth -- I've explained it in a couple of messages, but to sum up, it's been permanently closed due to worries about possible liability if any accidents occurred there. Re: the new runway, the official designation *will* be 15R-33L, with the existing north-south runway renamed 15L-33R. The centerline of 15R-33L will be 1067 m west of the centerline of 15L-33R; its paved length will be 2769 m (9085 ft), with an operational length (for arrivals only, during crosswind conditions) of 2591 m (8500 ft), since the threshold will be displaced by about 183 m (600 ft) at each end. The north end of 15R-33L will intersect with the northern most existing taxiway; the south end will have a taxiway connecting to existing Delta (D) taxiway. I'm still not sure about the Lima Outer Marker -- the diagrams I've seen do not appear to show any changes in that area, but I could be mistaken. For anyone who is interested, I will be uploading an aerial photomosaic of the airport (circa 1994 or possibly 1995) to the AS&R bulletin board. (Also, if anyone cares, I will be posting a B&W photo showing one of the buses that Air Canada is using to ferry passengers to its CRJ / Dash-8 U.S.-bound aircraft. Note that there are plans to build a satellite departure lounge in that area (at the edge of the apron near the west end of Delta taxiway), probably by mid-1997. I can be reached via internet e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. This may be a good way to relay particularly technical questions about Toronto (YYZ) operations and plans to me, since I can research the answers directly from the reference materials and documents available at the office. I will still post replies to queries received via the above e-mail address to this NANET conference to ensure that the info is available to everybody. Hope this info helps -- more questions are welcome! Bob Moriyama Air Search & Rescue, (416) 259-0729 -=o0o=- . Found on the Internet - A mother and son were removed from an International flight and arrested last week after the woman berated the Captain verbally and the son shoved a flight attendant - all over being denied smoking priviledges. Late last year, a whale became entangled in fishing nets off the coast of Georgia. While working to remove some of the tackle scientists attached a satellite tag allowing them to track the whale as it migrates around the globe. Surfers can follow the whale - dubbed Metompkin - through satellite maps at http://whale.simmons.edu -=o0o=- . Planning a trip to Hong Kong?
