Many years ago, a Air Canada pilot authored stories about a fictional airline called 'Down East Airlines' flying Vanguards - here is a story which COULD have come from those stories, but came from a book called 'Left Seat' by Robert Serling - The captain was flying a DC-2 trip once and he had a cocky copilot on board. The kid didn't know it, but the captain had met some Army pilots the night before and told them where he'd be flying the next day. He turns the ship over to the copilot just about the time he catches an Army pursuit job on the starboard wing. The Army guy, exactly as the captain had planned it, rolled just before he came alongside. So when he pulled up even, he was on his back. The captain tapped the copilot on the shoulder and pointed to the other plane. 'Don't look now.' he says, 'but I think we're flying upside down.' The copilot fainted. .
