With regards to the 'rumour' reported by Syl Napolitano as relayed in Netletter Nr 107, Fraser Muir - President of the Pionairs has responded - ' Sorry it wasn't the intent to keep everyone in the dark; but as you can imagine that in a case like this one has to dot all the i's and cross all the t's before making any announcements. And after all this is the first time a decision of this magnitude or nature has ever been made since our organization started twenty years ago. There is also a letter going out to the membership explaining the reasons for this decision, and is as follows: Each year the semi-annual meeting of the National Executive and the District Directors is held at the site where the next Annual General Meeting is planned to take place. The purpose being, aside from conducting the required business transactions, to view, and evaluate the site. This year our meeting was held at the Pheasant Run Resort and Convention Centre in St. Charles, Ill., on November the 20 and 21. The National Executive and the District Directors concluded the ground transportation to and from the airport, and to and from the surrounding communities; as well as the level of service offered by the staff members failed to meet the basic standards we feel our members have come to expect. As a result, it has been decided to abandon plans to hold AGM '97 at Peasant Run Resort; instead it will be held at the Raddison Hotel, 777 University St., in Montreal, on June 1,2,3, and 4. The hotel was formerly the Hyatt Regency, and is located kitty-corner from the Bonnaventure Hotel and Complex, at University and St. Antoine Streets. The AGM Package providing all the details pertaining to AGM '97 will be mailed as planned in early February.
