Boeing has so far booked orders for 645 airliners worth US$47.26 billion; and those numbers represent only "announced orders" so a full accounting will likely be somewhat greater. 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF VOYAGER SUCCESS They captivated the interests of the world, flyers and non-flyers alike, for nine days a decade ago, Jeanna Yeager and Dick Rutan, as they slowly circled the globe in a bizarre-looking aircraft named Voyager that droned its way around the world to make the ultimate flying mark: circumnavigating the globe nonstop on a single tank of gas. And now we read of Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic is set to circumnavigate the globe in a hot air balloon - and with all those B747's he owns ...... CANADI>N AIRLINES JUGGLES ITS FLEET: Canadi>n Airlines International plans a large-scale "realignment" of almost one-quarter of its global feet of 133 aircraft, a move designed to generate C$60 million a year in cost savings. The realignment is part of its plans to restructure operations and improve profits, it noted. (What profits? - eds) Be aware that Air Ontario cabin crews are taking industrial action which could affect flights. SHORT FINAL... A Mexican newspaper reports that bored Royal Air Force pilots stationed on the Falkland Islands have devised what they consider a marvelous new game. Noting that the local penguins are fascinated by airplanes, the pilots search out a beach where the birds are gathered and fly slowly along it at the water's edge. Perhaps ten thousand penguins turn their heads in unison watching the planes go by, and when the pilots turn around and fly back, the birds turn their heads in the opposite direction, like spectators at a slow-motion tennis match. Then, the paper reports, "The pilots fly out to sea and directly to the penguin colony and over fly it. Heads go up, up, up, and ten thousand penguins fall over gently onto their backs." ~-=o0o=-~ .
