Mainwairing & Son,'And just to show you how verv advanced this machine is, ask it any question - anything at all, even a personal question.' The chief executive was skeptical. 'Okay,' he said, "Ask it where my father is.'The salesman typed in the question and the computer began to whirr, then the answer flashed up on the screen 'Your father is sitting in a bar in Milwaukee.' 'There vou are,' said the boss. 'It's wrong, my father died three years ago.' The salesman was surprised, and hurriedly typed in, 'Where exactly is Mr. Mainwairing senior?' The computer whirred into action and again flashed its answer on the screen. 'Mr. Mainwairing senior died three years ago, but Charlie Mainwairing's father is still sitting in that bar in Milwaukee!"' ~-=o0o=-~ . Interline stuff Fun in the sun! Prior to his recent visit to Paris, our Prime Minister probably checked CIC chapter 53 page 69 for the following information - France is a member state of the Schengen agreement. Other states are Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Air France is the main national carrier, Air Inter(IT) operates domestically. Main airports are Orly, 9 miles from Paris, Charles De Gualle, at 14 miles from Paris. No airport tax is levied on passengers departing France. Climate for summer months of Jun, Jul and Aug is moderate, with a high of 24 and low of 11 and average 51 mm of rain. Passports required for Canadians, but not visas. No vaccinations are required. Electric appliances run on 220-230 volts, 50 cycles. Jul 14 is Bastille Day, and Aug 15 is Assumption Day, both public holidays. French railways operate the fastest train in the world linking Paris to Brittany, Lyon and Bordeaux. Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Lille have metro underground systems. There are few long distance coach services, the main company is Europabus. Banks are open Mon-Fri 0900-1630, closed midday on the day presceeding public holidays. Smiles from Vesta - In a Rome laundry: Ladies, leave your clothes here and spend the rest of the afternoon having fun. In a Czechoslovak tourist agency: Take one of our horse driven city tours - we guarantee no miscarriages. A Thai donkey-ride ad: Would you like to ride your own ass? In a Swiss inn: Special today - no ice cream. Terry found this on the Internet - A guy dies and upon his arrival in Heaven, he waits in line at the Pearly Gates. In the distance this gentlemans witnesses an A319 Airbus coming in for a landing and to his surprise, it crashes. A few seconds later he see's the same Airbus coming in for a landing, and once again it crashes. Bewildered.. the gentleman shrugs it off and waits in line. A few seconds later, again he witnesses what appears to be the same Airbus, coming in for a landing and every time it crashes. When the gentleman reaches the front of the line, he asks St. Peter to explain what he just saw. St Peter explained to the gentleman not to worry, it was only God and he thinks he's an Airbus pilot. ~-=o0o=-~ . That's it for this time, please we need your input, send comments and email addresses of any others who may be interested to Vesta with a copy to Terry. -!- Landing on an Island in the Pacific. _____(~)_____ ! ! !
