Found on the internet Two disgusted passengers who bought a Hoover vacuum cleaner just to get free airline tickets promised by that company were awarded the prizes of the tickets recently by a court in London, England. This refers to the promotion, early last year, by the Hoover Company, who promised to give a free ticket on British Airways anywhere in the world upon the purchase of a Hoover vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, Hoover neglected to stipulate the type of vacuum, consequently the smart shopper purchased the cheapest product line, a little over UKL100 (CA$200.00). Hoover had to cancel the promotion when they were swamped with orders. Air France flights are experiencing delays due to a dispute with their Cabin Crews. The lease of the facilities for the Commissary & Catering at Heathrow will not be renewed beyond 1999, the company has concluded that this service should be obtained from third party. Bill Williamson, ex Sales Londen, Eng, has these reminiscences of 'TCA Days' - I have many memories of the very loyal staff, especisally on days of fog at Heathrow, and diversions of flights to Prestwick; getting passengers from the airport and the Airways Terminal to either Euston or St. Pancreas stations to board the British Rail Night Sleeper train to Kilmarnock Station, nearest to Prestwick. Needless to say, very often sleepers were fully booked and many passengers had to sit the long journey out. In several cases the late Ruth Jennings, I/C Visitors Bureau, had a friend in British Rail who was able, at times, to arrange for an extra sleeping car to be put on the train. We had very few complaints to deal with, most passengers were happy to be enroute to Canada. Staff wise, in spite of having done a full day's work, they were happy to help out, remembering, no overtime pay only time off in lieu if you were lucky, late meal allowance was six shillings. With all the ups and downs everyone was happy to assist. Today things have changed with the modern technology. ~-=o0o=-~ . Interline stuff.
