. Here is an update from Cory McAdams - co-ordinator for the
60th anniversary events -
Here is the latesst information on events being planned to
commemorate AC's 60th anniversary. Locations are at various
stages of the planning process.
Employees, retirees and families are invited to attend their
nearest event. Should your location not be holding an event, you
will be able to fly on your personal pass to the nearest station
hosting an event (accessible by AC & AC Connectors), with service
charges WAIVED. Stay tuned for more information on this option.
Frankfurt - June 25 at U.S. Air Base Recreation Centre
Halifax - July 26 - 13:00 - 17:00 AC Hangar
Quebec City - August 9 (location TBA)
Washington, DC - August 16 or 17 (to be confirmed)
Montreal - August 23 - AC hangar,
Laguardia - August 23 (location TBA)
Ottawa - September 6 (location TBA)
Calgary - September 6 - 10:30 - 21:00, Bowness Park
Vancouver - September 13
Toronto - September 20 - 10:00 - 16:00
Boston - September 20, (location TBA)
San Francisco - September 27 (location TBA)
Los Angeles - September 29 - also celebrating 30 years of
service to LAX (location TBA)
Winnipeg - October 4 - AC hangar (time TBA)

1948 - Name 'Air Canada' approved for use.
1960 - Halifax operations transferred to new Halifax International
from Dartmouth.
1972 - Cancelled option on Anglo-French Concorde.
1974 - Air Transit commenced STOL service between Montreal-Ottawa
with D.H. Twin Otter aircraft.

1976 - Service to Cuba commenced.
1995 - Ottawa-Chicago inaugurated with CL65 - RJ.

. CF-TCC was at Moncton Jun 17/18th fund raising for the
Dreams Take Flight.
Next appearance is Sherbrooke Jun 27-29th raising
funds for the Canadian Heart Foundation.

. The Vancouver Island District Pionairs have a new Director who
replaces Saville Hambleton. The Name is Bill Fisher. Bill and
Sally moved to the Island in 1992 retiring after managing the
Air Ontario operation at Toronto's Terminal 2, before that as
a load planner and flight dispatch. Al is heavily involved with
the B.C. Aviation Museum at Victoria Airport.
The upcoming events for the Vancouver Island Pionairs are -
July 30th - Annual Picnic
August 28th - Up Island Luncheon at Courtenay
October 23rd - Fall Luncheon.

. Many of you have heard of the Lockheed L10A CF-TCC which is used
for many fund raising events across Canada, especially for the
Dreams Take Flight annual events. Does anyone know if there
is any model kit of this type of aircraft on the market? If
you know, then Mike Leduc at
interested in hearing from you.
(Maybe the airline could promote such a kit!)

I have been working for Air Canada for almost 20 years, and have
worked for Canadair-Bombardier, before that Rolls Royce,
Menasco, altogether that's 42 years in the airline business
as mechanic specialising in process shop, heat treat, platin',
shoot peening. etc.So that is a bit of my life story.

Airbus Industries chief Jean Pierson announced [June 15] that the
consortium is launching two new versions of its A340 in a move to
winning over customers of Boeings's 747. Airbus is looking
for commitments to launch the long-range A340-500 and the larger,
378-seat, A340-600. The 600 will be ready in 2001.
