. Ron Munson sends as more information reported in the UK  -

B.A. have announced non-stop services between Scotland and the US
are to restart this summer.  As a result they will be able to
increase flights from Birmingham to New York and Toronto from five to
seven per week.
From 1st June, non-stop 757's will fly daily, except Tues. and Wed.,
from Glasgow to New York, shaving up to two hours off the journey.
The service from Birmingham to New York and Toronto will rise from
five to seven flights per week, also as from 1st June.

Qantas is to suspend some services between Australia, Indonesia,
Thailand and Malaysia from 21st Feb. after a fall in passenger
demand in south-east Asia.  In fact several airlines have also voiced
their concern over reduced passenger demand, in Japan, Hong Kong,
Singapore and Korea caused by the current economic climate in the
Far East.

Royal Jordanian Airlines has purchased 182 Sony GV-F700 Video
Walkman systems for use on its longhaul fleet.  They will be the
first airline to offer the new system to its premium and business
class passengers.

B.A. and Canadi>n Airlines will expand their code-sharing
partnership this summer to include new flights between London Eng
and Ottawa as well as an additional daily service between London Eng
and Toronto.
Starting on the 2nd June, Canadi>n Airlines will introduce year round
non-stop services between Heathrow and Ottawa.  The service, which
will be codeshared with B.A. will be operated by B767 aircraft on
Tues. and Sat. and DC-10 aircraft on Sun.

A Braille card with travel information on B.A., in particular safety
procedures, has been produced with the Royal National Institute for
the blind.

B.A. city ticket offices across the USA will close from 1st May as
Internet, ticket by mail and electronic ticketing are changing their
business. There are plans to introduce electronic ticketing at the
22 US aiport locations, making it even easier to buy a B.A. ticket.

.  Smilie from GORDON DALZIEL who sends us this -
Excerpted from the book "Masquerade: The Amazing Camouflage
Deceptions of World War II", by Seymour Reit; Signet, 1980.

An enemy decoy, built in occupied Holland, led to a tale that has
been told and retold ever since by veteran Allied pilots.
The German "airfield," constructed with meticulous care, was made
almost entirely of wood. There were wooden hangars, oil tanks, gun
emplacements, trucks, and aircraft. The Germans took so long in
building their wooden decoy that Allied photo experts had more than
enough time to observe and report it. The day finally came when the
decoy was finished, down to the last wooden plank.
And early the following morning, a lone RAF plane crossed the
Channel, came in low, circled the field once,
and dropped a large .........wooden bomb.
