. Where are they now?
Jacques Gaucher sends in this request -
Subject: Search of an old friend.
Hi guys!
Dunno if this is possible.  Years ago (1969), I worked with a fellow by the
name of Jörg Stüve.  He was transfered in Asia, then I retired. Then he
retired and the last time he was seen, he was in Calgary.  Do you think we
(Russ Reynard and I) can launch a search though your Net membership to see
if anyone knows about his wareabouts?
Thanks for whatever you can do.

. Bill Willows sends us this bio -
Joined TCA as a Radio Operator in '46. Transferred from Operations
to Sales in '52. Opened the Timmins (YTS) CTO that year and Air Canada
service to YTS the following year.
Remained in  Northern Ont and Que until '70. Following a two year stint
in HQ's in Passenger Sales & Service.  was   appointed Sales Manager
Cleveland (CLE) in '72 and then District Manager CLE where I remained until
Air Canada service was terminated in '85 at which time I took early
retirement.
All in all, I've had a great 39 years with Air Canada. My friendship with
Don Demeza goes back 55 years to our Ferry Command days and the
amazing thing is that Don Demeza doesn't look like he's 55 even today - see
you at the Pionairs meeting in May Don.

. News from the National Executive -

In the recently received AGM package was a sheet for 'Post A.G.M. Tours
1998' for a trip to Chicago with a deadline date of March 13th, some
packages are being received after this deadline date.
We at the NetLetter queried this and the following reply was received
from Olie and Mary Moore -
Sorry for the delay in you receiving the AGM news.  It was mailed at the
end of Feb.  We got a Bulk rate for the mailing in Canada and so I guess
that is why it took so long.  This being our first year at this we have
been learning as we go.  Next year better!!  The Tour Co. would not
change that date for us...we tried to make it the same date as the
others but they would not agree.

Roy McCormack, Pionairs National Treasurer sends us this -

The package of information mailed to all Pionairs about the AGM 98
lacked a "Registration Form" to accompany the requested cheque sent to me
by those Pionairs planning to attend. It was an over-sight on my part in
not editing the paragraph thoroughly enough. It merely stated that payment
of $107.00 was requested in advance by cheque or money order to Air Canada
Pionairs, c/o Roy McCormack, RR1, Box 1136, Collingwood, ON , L9Y 3Y9.
Many people have already registered and have accompanied their cheques with
their hand-written notes, specifying their requirements.
It's working fine so far, but maybe a follow-up message via the Netletter
might be appropriate.
First of all I extend my apologies to Pionairs for the over-sight I
have already mentioned.
For those not wishing to attend all the events for the full three days
we have belatedly agreed to set prices for each of the three main events as
follows:-
- Welcome Reception Only        $25.00 per person.
- Dinner/Dance Only            $50.00 per person.
- Banquet Only                $50.00 per person.

Note: Registering for only some of the above events will most likely
apply to Pionairs living in the Toronto area.
Handling of table reservations is being set up with a computer program,
not only to register desired table allocations in advance, but hopefully
also to permit rapid adjustment of table seating,  as required, when
Pionairs are registering at the hotel.
On behalf of Olie Moore and his National Executive, we look forward to
having a good turnout, meeting once again the people we worked with and
many others we have come to know since joining Pionairs.

. News from the Districts.
From the Vancouver Island newsletter -

Our Vancouver Island spring luncheon will take place on April 8 at
Princess Mary Restaurant in Victoria this year. The usual format,
meet, chitchat at 11:30 and buffet lunch at 12:30 has been confirmed.
Cost is CA$16.00 pp.
Guest speaker is Wendy Patriquin, National Sales Manager, Canadian
Interline Travel Ltd.

Our annual picnic will again take place at Mount Douglas park on July
29 at 10:00. Last year we had forty plus Pionairs out. Everyone had a
great time. This year I would like to see more members taking in this
event. The weather should be a repeat of last year.

The annual up island lunch will take place on August 20 at Naniamo at
the Rutherford Golf Club at 4900 Rutherford Road, just of highway 19
in the north half of Naniamo. Price will be $15.00 each.
This is a change of venue and date from previous years - take note!

Our fall lunch will take place at McMorrans on Oct. 7. Again the usual
format. Meet at 11:30, lunch at 13:00. The reason for the extra chat
time is everyone seemed to want to talk last time so this year we will
give everyone an extra 30 minutes. Guest speaker will be Pionair
President Olie Moore.

All visiting Pionairs most welcome call Bill Fisher (250)-656-7936
