. News from the Districts -

District of Montreal Air Canada Pionairs Vol 21. Sentinel April 1998
Director's Corner (Herb Guilfoyle)
Hello again! Time flies when you are retired and you are
having a busy fun time.  It seems like only last week that I
sat here writing my message to you.  Things are good, our
airline is in good hands and in good shape.  I've heard from
lots of Pionairs from our district and from other districts
across the system and on the while we are a happy group.
We are sorry to say that our plans for the Quebec City tour
this June has been cancelled.  Michel Beriau, our dedicated
Asst Director and Tour Organizer has just undergone an open
heart surgery and requires complete rest for weeks to come.
We are happy to hear that the operation was a success and we
wish Michel a complete recovery.

As for the people who has registered for the Paris trip,
again, with Michel not available to organize it, we must
postpone it indefinitely.

Casual Lunch at the Casa Grecque by Pam Roschelt
It was great to see the Pionairs who turned out for the
luncheon.  In spite of the snowy weather, 60 retirees
congregate to reminisce old days.  What made this luncheon
special for many of us was to see the number of Pionairs who
joined us for the first time. We hope to see you again.

One topic we covered extensively was what happened to each
other during the ice storm.  What we learned about the art
of survival could fill a book.
After we enjoyed a hearty lunch, our Director, Herb
Guilfoyle, went over the upcoming Pionair activities, such
as a visit to the Ecomuseum, an Italian lunch at the Lachine
Curling Club where some Pionairs will display their talent
at curling.
Then Real Henri who is one of our Pionair representatives on
the Health Plan no. 2 Committee, explained the reasons for
the increase in monthly premiums which will be paid by the
retirees effective April 1, 1998.  Real also answered
questions from the floor about the Plan.
The luncheon ended with three Pionairs winning door prizes
and a lot of hugs, until we meet again

Bowling by Mary Simmons
Happy days are here again!  Pionairs Bowling League is off
to a great start with 14 bowlers on Jan 20th, now numbering
30. There's room for more (Max is 48)
You don't have to be a great bowler to be a Pionair bowler.
That was apparent from the beginning, the purpose of this
league is really to meet other Pionairs and have fun.  A lot
of us hadn't bowled in years.  A ball down the gutter is
taken  in stride.
Pionairs seem to be a busy lot and we're never sure who's
going to show up.  Members bring friends and family.
Nothing is taken too seriously and you bowl with whomever is
available.  We all have a great time!
If you are interested in having fun while getting exercise,
come join us on Tuesday afternoons at 1:00pm in Valois Bay,
62, Donegani, Point Claire, QC

. News of the Memoriabilia Exhibit -
Fraser Muir sends this update -

Just to let you know--Joan and I survived the winter and we are getting
ready to take the company's Memoriabilia Exhibit on the road again.
We were at the company's Shareholder's Meeting last week in Saint
John, N.B., with part of the exhibit, and we'll be setting up all the
five units at the Pionair's AGM in YYZ.
All active employees and retirees, and those Pionairs that are
not planning to  register for the AGM, are welcome to come and
view the exhibit at the Colony Hotel in Toronto.
The possibility of meeting old friends would be a bonus.
