. In NetLetter nr 272, Bill Norberg related a great story about the Vanguard
which belly landed at Dorval. Bill quoted fin nr 906. Your copilot, Terry,
did query Bill about the fin nr as he remembered it as 907.
Ed Black sends us this comment -
Subject: Bill Norberg's article on Vanguards.
Terry
This may seem like a nit picking point, but I remember the Hangar
Queen and being aircraft 907 rather than 906.
Let's see if anyone else thinks the same and lets you know.

. News from the Districts.
Subject: Edmonton executive
Shirley Jay sends us an update -
Our local Pionair executive remain the same for the next year.
They are as follows:
President:      Malcolm Munroe
Vice President: Lorraine Horsley
Treasurer:      Norm Selwood
Secretary:              Bob Anderson
Phone Committee Lorraine Cronin
Russ Bell
Marguerite Fisk
Bill Hume
Courtesy:       Shirley Jay
Courtesy means I send Sympathy or Get Well cards where required, etc.

Regarding my recent trip to Guernsey, I flew to London (Heathrow) on
Canada's finest.  Had to change airports to Stansted (there is a shuttle
bus from Heathrow every two hours), and flew on KLM UK Air (the old Air
UK), to Guernsey.  Used a 75% ID on the flight to Guernsey and had no
problems re space.  There is service on a carrier owned by British Airways
out of Gatwick but they do not give as good a discount - believe it was a
50%.
Weather was horrid - fog, drizzle and rain but I went to visit a friend so
it didn't stop us from talking nonstop.  You must realize I am not a good
one when it comes to weather because I am completely controlled by the sun.
Fortunately I live where there is lots of that - it need never rain in my
life to make me happy.

. Note from Bob Robbins to Tom Grant -
Subject: Re: Pionairs Website
Just opened your Email telling about the Pionairs Website.
I didn't take time to thoroughly explore it, but count on it - I
certainly will.
I chanced to open Lounge 3, and was deeply touched.  There was a picture
of a dear friend, George Heron peering into an oscilloscope.
George, Pionair Ralph Thomas (who died five years ago), another friend and
I all got our ham radio tickets in Toronto in 1932.
George was a few years older than us, and quickly became our "mentor".
A warm-hearted fine technician. He joined TCA in its first year, 1937 as
a radio technician in Winnipeg. He quickly developed a yen in Ralph and
myself to also join the airline, leading to us getting our Commercial Radio
Operator's licenses and joining TCA in 1940.
George died in Vancouver last December, aged 87 - still an active ham,
operating by remote control from the seniors' residence where he lived.
The transmitter was in his son's house a few miles away.
His passing left a hole in my heart.  So wonderful to see him in Lounge 3.
Thanks much   Bob Robbins  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
