. Here we have a bio for Andy Michelberger -
Started May 1961 with TCA, at the Dorval Base, in the Accessory Shop as
Junior Mechanic.
In May 1973 I transfered to Toronto and worked as a mechanic in the T2
G.S.E&F. Maintenance Shop{Gate107} until August 1997. Thats when I decided
to retire early, so I could spend more time with my Bee Girlfriends.

. Charles Mackie thought we would enjoy this tale -
Subject: The Labrador Cat
Here is a little story that happened to me away back in 1946 while I
was OIC in Goosebay Labrador. It's not directly concerned with aviation
but it was a memorable occasion for myself.
The building we where housed in Goosebay was one of the first building
constructed in Goosebay, and was called Chateau Terrington.
It had the first control tower erected on the roof of this building,
and was not in use because of the newer tower etc in place in Labrador. So
it was an excellent place for myself to put up my Ham radio station under
the call of VO6L.
The caretaker and housekeeper for the guys at this time where an
elderly Swiss couple who brought along a cat with them when they arrived.
The cat had the distinction of being the only cat in Goose bay at the time,
lots of dogs but no other cats so was spoiled and made quite a fuss over.
Well the cat got sick, and the old lady asked me to try and get some
medicine for the cat from the RCAF Dispensary, so I went and they gave
me some medicine for the cat, but the cat did not get any better.
One day I was on the air talking to a chap in New Jersey and in the
course of the conversation he was calling himself "Doc" so I asked him
what sort of doctor that he was, and he said he was a Vet.
So I told him about the sick cat that we had and how important it was
to the local community and could he precribe for the cat from the symptoms
I gave him. He did and I then went back to the dispensary and got the
required medicine and gave them to the old lady to give to the cat.  Well
the cat recovered nicely.
A few days after this took place I was on the air again and there was
this chap frantically trying to get a hold of me. It was the Vet and he
had told several audiences re his prescribing for the cat in Labrador
and also told the local press, so everywhere he went people where asking
him about the Labrador cat.
I told the Vet that I had the cat on hand and was going to make it
meow proof of the cat being okay.  Well I did everything to that cat to
make it make a noise but not a peep out it, so the cat got curious about
the microphone you could see your reflection it it. Well the cat saw this
and as soon as it touched the mike with its nose, it got a shock from the
RF energy that was on it.
Well that sure got the cat howling.
Eventually we regained our composure and turned the transmission back
to the Vet in New Jersey, and we heard a lot of howling and barking from the
dogs located in his hospital, as he had his radio staton located in the
hospital and the animals there heard the Cat and were reacting accordingly.
I still have the press clippings sent to me by the Vet a Dr Charles
Dibbell, relating the story to the Press in New Jersey.
So hope you find it interesting , and have lots more stories to tell
you as time goes on.
Hope this finds you all Healthy and Happy

True Travel Stories
The following are actual stories told by travel agents (and you wonder why
US citizens generally score lower than the rest of the world on geography)...

I had someone who wanted to stay at the Bob Newhart Inn in Connecticut.
When I explained that the inn was fictional, the customer became very irate
and insisted "I know it is real, I see them check in every week!"

Also, I really did have someone ask for an aisle seat so that their hair
wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.

A client called inquiring about a package to Hawaii. After going over all
the cost info, she asked, "would it be cheaper to fly to California and
then take the train to Hawaii?"
