****** Widows/widowers with a survivor's pension ******
Travel privileges continue for spouses of deceased employees who receive a
survivors pension from Air Canada until they remarry.  Widows/widowers receive
a travel card to imprint T421 personal trip pass tickets on an unlimited
space available basis for travel on Air Canada and AC regional carriers.

Should widows/widowers remarry, travel privileges will cease for them and
their eligible dependants three months after their remarriage.

Widows/widowers must contact their pensions department to advise of their
change in marital status.

******* Widows/widowers without a survivors pension *******

Widows/widowers who do not qualify for a survivors pension will receive
travel privileges on Air Canada and AC Regional Carriers for 12 months from
the date of death of employee.

Tickets must be requested through the Employee Call Centre.
The normal zone service charge and all applicable taxes will be collected at
the time of ticket issuance.

Partner Travel

Widows/widowers may register one (1) travel partner who will be eligible for
four (4) trips per calendar year and they are not eligible for (2) additional
trips for any person of their choice.

The travel partner programs are not available to widows and widowers of
employees who did not obtain 15 years of active service.

Family Affaire

The Family Affaire program is not available to widow/widowers of employees
who did not obtain 15 years of active service.

Service Awards

Service award recognition passes earned by the employee through years of
service is permitted for use only by the widow/widower.  The service award
for a partner to accompany the widow/widower is no longer permitted.

Travel on Regional Carriers

Travel is permitted on AC Regional Carriers.
Travel on all other airlines (OAL) is not available to Widow/widowers.

. Following our article re the lap top in Scotland UK, Doug Davidson sends
this infomation -
Re lap-tops in U.K.
The adaptor for American phone jack to British phone jack is readily
available in Radio Shack stores over there, and probably others too, so you
won't get stuck.
The other thing to know in this technological age is that the pound key on
a British phone does not work.  They tell you it does, and I have phoned BT
three times on the subject.  I'm telling you it doesn't work. How odd.
British pounds don't work.

. News from the districts.
From the Monteal District Pionairs SENTINEL newsletter - Summer 1998.
Luncheon at the Lachine Curling Club on April 3rd was great success, and
the gathering were treated to some pretty great curling.
Some of the curlers were Roger Carter, Tom Sayer, Lil Rybend, Hugh Carre,
Peter Simpson. Winners were a rink skipped by
Reno Alfonso, Norm Reed, Paul Nakamachi and lead Bud Cluet.
Bowling 1998-1999 season sarts Tuesday Sept 8th thru to Dec 15th, then
from Jan 12 until Apr 20th, a total of 30 weeks. Games start 13.00 hrs.
Location: Valois Bowling at 62 Donegani in Pointe Claire.
Cost: $6.25 for 3 games, included money for prizes at year end.
Maximum 48 players. Please register  before August 20th.

Come and meet old or new friends, co-workers and retirees.
Casual Fall Luncheon at La Roma Antiqua, 4701 St. John's Blvd in
Dollard des Ormeaux. Oct 29th is the date and the menu is
table d'hote starting at $7.95 pp. This is a 'bring your own wine'
establishment. Fun begins at 11.30 with lunch following at noon.

required to be at Dorval Base at 03.00 am ( yes am!) on the morning
