Even our Chief Pilot of the NetLetter - Vesta - has a request -
A friend of mine would like to find a Internet Service Provider (s)
in India.
She is not bringing her laptop to India as she and her husband are doing
field trips and that would be extra weight to carry on her back.
So we are looking for a courtesy use/or pay by the time used of a IBM
clone computer. eg like the cafe outlets we have here.
Does anyone know of such a thing in India?  reply to

. John Rodger sends this memory prompted by NetLetter nr 308 story of the
fire in Hanger nr 5 -
Hi; After reading the note on the fire it brought back this memory I have
of it. I was in the RCAF and home on leave. I left from that hanger the day
before for my base at Macdonald Man. It was quite a surprise for me to find
out it had burnt down the next day. I knew and later worked at TCA maint.
with RCAF personal who were directly involved in it.
As it turned out I started to work in hanger 4a in July of 56 and of course
heard many stories of that event.
Thanks for the memories John Rodger. John Rodger" <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.>

. Found on the internet.

DC8 affectionadoes may be interested in knowing that the jetliner was
40 years old on May 30th. The first flight was Memorial Day 1958, since
then, until the end of April 1998, the jetliner fleet has clocked up
29,900,000 hours and is still growing at more than 1,000 hours a day.
Of the 556 DC8's produced between 1958 and 1972, 294 remain in service
with 50 operators world wide with more than 270 scheduled passenger
flights a day to 140 cities in 58 countries. Air Canada operated 42 copies.

With Continental Airlines' colour scheme on one side and VASP of Brazil
on the other side, a Continental DC10 promotes the airline's recent code
sharing agreement on flights to Brazil.

. Terry's travel tips.

We hope that your future plans did not include travel on Phillipine
Air Lines as they have ceased operations.

Maynard & Margaret Bartlett are cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale in Nov,
and thought this information would be of interest to fellow cruisers.
We are going on a cruise Nov. 18th on the Princess Royal and will be
staying at the Holiday Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport 1-800-480-7623. close to
ships and airport. Plus they pick you up at the Airport and will deliver you
to the docks at no charge.
Cost us$65.00 plus tax of us$7.15 for a total of us$72.15.
Since it is so close and we had called many Hotels that did not have a
vacancy and were more expensive we were delighted to find them.
Have a good cruise,
Cheers, Maynard and Margaret Bartlett   <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.>

Does this sound familiar?
Marg Firby dared to send us this -
thought you might get a kick out of this...
On Tues. Sept 15 I dialed the call center to order a partner pass.
We plan to travel on Sept. 26 so there was no time to waste.  Of course I
expected a huge delay in getting attended to, but I was prepared to wait.
I held the line for 3 hours and then my portable phone started to beep as it
was losing power. I hot-footed it upstairs to my bedroom and picked up the
regular phone. The bed looked so tempting I lay down.  ....Next thing I
heard was "hello, hello, helllllllllloooooooooo".... well, I came to in a
hurry and thanked the passenger agent for not hanging up on me.
"well," she said, " I thought you might have left the phone for a minute,
then I heard you snoring"!!! "Snoring", I replied, "I don't snore!!!".
"well", she answered, "you sure breathe heavy!!!!!!!!".
The two of us were laughing so hard we could hardly make the booking.
Anyhow it gave her a laugh on a very stressful day.
My travel plans are for Quebec City (first visit) and I am sure looking
forward to it.

LEAK IN AFT GALLEY
=================
A flight attendant was on the red-eye to Manila when a water leak
developed in the galley, which eventually soaked the carpet
throughout the aft cabin of the 747.
A very sleepy woman who had become aware of the dampness
tugged at my skirt as the attendant passed by.
'Has it been raining?' she asked the flight attendant.
Keeping a straight face, she replied, 'Yes, but we put the top up'.
With a sigh of relief, the woman went back to sleep.
