. Need to know!
Don Demeza advises that the Travel Guide produced by the Pionairs has
been further edited by Air Canada Pensions and Employee Benefits - it is
currently being checked again by Industry Travel therefore should soon be
sent to all retirees.

Also Don provides another example concerning the completion of a trip
pass for an unusual trip - here it is:

The retiree is travelling Montreal to Frankfurt on a pass, then another
carrier to Rome and on by cruise ship to Miami and home
to Montreal on Air Canada.  The problem is: "How should the pass be
completed    to provide Accounting with the information to collect the
various charges       involved without requiring the use of two passes.  The
return is from a lower    zone than Frankfurt so the Frankfurt service
charge applies but Accounting      needs the info9rmation.
There are adequate coupons available so complete the pass form as follows:

MONTREAL - FRANKFURT - SURFACE - MIAMI - MONTREAL

The above information provides Accounting with sufficient information
on     the audit coupon to set up the required charges and is similar to the
way in    which a travel agent would prepare an open jaw type revenue
ticket. This        approach can be applied to other situations.

Also Industry Travel have just issued a two page summary of both recent
and 1999 changes to our travel privileges.  The highlight is that the
allotment of partner passes will be increased to 8 for married, single
employees and retirees.  The summary will be distributed by mail
and Horizons.

. Brian Dunn sends us more YYZ info -
An ex-Air Atlantic BAe146-200 arrived at YYZ on October 28th
(C-FHAV) in basic Canadian Partner colours but with titles removed. It then
went into the paint shop and apparently is being prepared for Air Nova.
Air Canada has put a CRJ back into service (FLN114 C-FVKR) after
repairs to the tail cone and rudder.  It was involved in an incident on
October 28th when it was pushed back from a commuter gate in the east
hold right into a small catering truck which got pushed over onto its
side.  No one was injured and the aircraft was repaired after a couple
of days in the hangar.
Air Ontario have announced plans to begin a new route linking Toronto
and Syracuse NY effective January 10th with 3 flights per business day.
Continental Airlines have announced some new routes to be
inaugurated in 1999.  Effective June 10th there will be a daily Newark
to Vancouver and effective March 1st will commence twice daily regional
jets between Cleveland and Montreal.

. For you Constellation buffs -
Ever wondered what happened to the ex TCA Super Constellation which used
to be a resturaunt outside the Regal Constellation Hotel in Toronto?
Originally CF-TGE, Brian Dunn informs us that it was dismantled
(again) and moved up to its present location.  It is a combination
bar/restaurent and it is right off Derry Rd. at the main entrance to the
FBO,s or "skyport" area of Pearson Internation Airport, Toronto.
This is the same old ex-TCA L-1049 that was shipped down here from Quebec
City area some time ago.

. Smilie.
Jacques Gaucher <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.>
This beautiful blond buys a ticket Montreal-Vancouver in economy class.
Once on board, she goes and sits in first class.
A stewardess goes to her and reminds her that she has an economy ticket
"Look at me", she says, "do I look like someone who belongs to economy
class?"
She turns to the flight director and explains her problem.  He, in turn,
asks her politely to move to the economey section which is what she paid
for.  Again, she refuses.  He then reports the problem to the captain.
The latter goes to her, speaks for 10 seconds and she immediately gets up
and moves to the other section.
Intrigued the director and the flight attendant ask the captain : "how did
you manage that?".
I told her that the first class section does not go to Vancouver.
