. We recently published a letter from Tom Grant announcing the demise
of the Pionair Web Site, and his reasons for doing so - we should point out
that the reasons noted was meant for general publication - for this your
co-pilot (Terry) apologise, the inclusion of the information was without
your Chief pilot's (Vesta) prior  permission nor, indeed, that of the
author Tom Grant.

The following is a rebuttal to article from Tom Grant printed in
"BETWEEN YOURSELVES - NetLetter" number 329 dated Nov 19th,1998,
with permission from signatories Mary and Olie Moore National Pionairs
Executives. Some editing has been done by your pilot also with
permission. (eds)

Subject: Re: Pionairs Website

Just to let you know what we did do for you!!!  At our AGM last year in
Toronto, we gave out all the yellow cards to our members which you sent
to us re the website.  We asked Horizons to advertise the website,  if
they did not that is no fault of ours. One of our members spoke from the
podium to 400 members present at the business meeting. He spoke on the
website as well as the Netletter.  The Pionairs have written a Travel
Guide which is being printed by Air Canada for all retirees. On Page 2
you will see that the website and netletter are highlighted.
I wrote a letter to each of the District Directors which read:

Things of interest could be sent to:  Tom Grant (address snipped by

. To set the record straight -
RE: Pionairs Website and notice of its demise in Netletter Nbr 329,
November 19,1998.

Sometimes  good intentions have unfortunate results. This was so with our
publication of a letter written to Olie Moore, President, Pionairs by Tom
Grant, producer of the Pionairs Website. The letter came to us as a carbon
copy because we provide much information for some of the website pages, and
thus, had a vested interest. We were disappointed that the website might
come off the air and felt that perhaps if there was a ground swell opposing
this, then Tom would have second thoughts. Unfortunately we should have
done some editing and better timing. As a result, it appeared that Tom had
written an "open letter", which he did not do. He in no way was airing his
feelings in public. Consequently, what were considered legitimate
perceptions voiced to a few people with a vested interest, were taken as
rude remarks by some.  This was unfortunate and regrettable.
