I know you are all dying to read the follow-up of previous
discussions in netletters re boarding of retirees. Heres
how is it done, FYI

Subject: Re: PASS PRIORITY   --RETIRED vs ACTIVE
Dear Retiree (name edited by editor)
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain the
boarding process for non-revenue passengers.

Since the introduction of RESIII in 1994, all active
employees register with the DOJ (service date) along with
their priority C2/Y10 or A1/J10 depending on their
category, where as retired employees register with their
length of service. At that time, the standby list is in
alphabetical order.

Upon arrival at the airport, both active and retired
employees must again airport-register for the flight. At
that time, the DCS (airport registration) record calculates
the DOJ of the retiree to match those of the active
employees. How is this done?

For example, an active employee with a service date of May
26, 1973 will be boarded after a retired employee with 26
YRS 1 MONTH of service. Why? Because the automated boarding
system will count back 26 YRS + 1 MONTH for the retiree, and
will list him with a service date of April 26, 1973 assuming
the travel date is today. In other words, this retiree has
actually one month of seniority more than the active
employee.

Please let me know if I have been able to clarify this
issue for you.
Regards,     Linda

Subject: NB Spring lunch

Morning Vesta and Terry
The New Brunswick District Spring Lunch was held May 27th at
Penobsquis - about midway between Moncton, Fredericton and
Saint John. The 36 attendees (YSJ 20, YQM 12 YFC 4) enjoyed
an excellent buffet lunch and were brought up to date on the
latest company news by Gord Simmons, Manager Personnel,
Atlantic Canada.
This is the second of our lunches that Gord has attended and
it was suggested that we make him an honourary member and
invite him to all our meetings.

Subject: Help
I wonder if any of our members in the Ottawa area can give
me some information. I've decided at the last minute to
visit an old army friend who is in a Vets hospital in
Ottawa, and I would appreciate it if someone could give me
some info on reasonable hotel rates in the downtown area.
This would be a single rate for 2 nights June 2nd and 3rd .

Comair (dba as Delta Connection) will be terminating their
four flights per day between Ottawa and New York-LGA on
31May. This will leave Air Canada the sole carrier on the
route.
