THINGS THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH Y2K
A Qantas Boeing 747 en route from Brisbane to Cairns lost part of an
engine.  According to Qantas, the unfortunate jettison did not affect
the performance of the engine and the aircraft landed safely.  Although
the identity of the part was not reported, a CAA spokesman was quoted as
saying, "You wouldn't want to be standing underneath it" when it came
down.

AIR CANADA A320 LIGHTS UP:
Passengers on an Air Canada Airbus 320 got their own light show recently
when the plane suffered engine problems shortly after it departed from
Calgary.  After the pilot reported a surge in power and a subsequent
loss of power in one engine, the crew shut that engine down and returned
safely to Calgary.  However, while taxiing towards the terminal,
passengers on the right side of the aircraft saw flames exiting the
starboard engine.  All the paxs were safely evacuated, and an airline
spokesperson suggested that residual fuel in the tailpipe could have been
the source of the flames.

I'm interested in trying to contact some of the old gang from my days
with 'F' troop at YYZ between the early 60's and the mid 70's which
were the passenger agents and ramp crews on 'A' cycle.
I have really enjoyed reading the issues of BETWEEN YOURSELVES since
enrolling and look forward to sending material to publish.
Regards Keith Alvey (retired AC emp 1423)
