. Need to know.
From the Horizon news -

We can use City Ticket Office (CTO) facilities for personal ticketing
needs. Active employees, retirees, and parents can use CTOs for
personal ticketing needs. Faxes and telephone calls won't be accepted
as agents are busy assisting revenue customers. Peak periods to avoid
are from 12:00-2:00 pm and 4:00-5:00 pm.

General Sales Tax (GST) not applicable on tickets for most
US-originating travel. Effective January 1, regardless where payment
for travel is made, GST shouldn't be charged on tickets for
US-originating traffic, except Hawaii. In addition, the French islands
of St-Pierre and Miquelon are also GST-exempt.

. From the newsletter of Brian Dunn - YYZNEWS -
Air Canada's latest A330-300 C-GFAF (FIN931) ferried YUL-YYZ on the
19th and made its first revenue flight today on AC105/AC148 to/from
Vancouver.  It is tentatively planned as of this writing to operate
AC918/AC919 to Miami on the 21st.

Air Canada announced that it will proceed immediately with the
consolidation of its regional airline subsidiaries, Air Nova, Air
Ontario, and AirBC.  Joseph Randell, President and CEO of Air Nova and
Interim President of Air Ontario and AirBC, has been appointed President
of the consolidated airline.
Consolidation will take several months and in the meantime each carrier
will continue to operate separately, but the new "Air Canada Regional"
will have its corporate headquarters in Toronto.  Should the sale of
Canadian Regional Airlines not be successful pursuant to the
undertakings given by the Competition Bureau, CRA will be integrated
into the consolidated regional airline.

Canadian Airlines Corp have started a re-paint program for their
fleet to a "transitional" colour scheme.  The first aircraft to be done
is a 767-300 (FIN640) and will be rolled out before the end of January
in a basic white fuselage with small Canada Goose logo on the forward
fuselage and CAC titles.  The tail will be the standard Air Canada
tail...green with maple leaf logo on it.  FIN639 will follow, and then a
mixture of 737s and A320s throughout the spring and summer.  There may
be some of the aircraft painted in Air Canada paint shops if capacity
becomes an issue.

MONTREAL AIRLINER'S CLUB
The next meeting will be held on January 30th in Room 368 between 1300
and 1600hrs at the Dorval terminal building.  All are welcome.  For more

. Found on the internet.
Swissair retired its last Boeing 747 airliner.

AUSTRALIAN FUEL WOES ESCALATE.
THOUSANDS OF AIRCRAFT GROUNDED.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of Australia
grounded thousands of piston-powered aircraft in eastern Australia
indefinitely, until it finds a way to ensure that fuel systems are free
of the effects of contaminated avgas.  Any aircraft that used fuel
from that batch is grounded until a procedure for cleansing and
rehabilitating the fuel system is devised -- and nobody can say how long
that will take.  The avgas, which was also distributed in New Zealand,
has affected an estimated 5,000 planes.
Meanwhile, flight-school operators and crop sprayers watch their businesses
bleed away, and services such as air ambulances, firefighting and mail
delivery are affected.
AOPA-Australia says the crisis will cost millions of dollars and threatens
thousands of jobs.

. Smilie.
From Brian O'Hare Retired AC YYZ...living in Arizona
Now thats service...
An Alaska Airlines 737 jet was headed for Nome with 111 passengers all
headed to the finish of the Iditarod sled dog race.
The flight was filled with sponsors, mushers families, and lots of
Alaskans  onboard.. Serving the flight were 3 brand new Seattle based
Alaska Airlines  flight attendants.
The weather went below minimums in Nome and the flight had to divert to
Kotzebue ...upon landing in Kotzebue the flight attendant announced on
the PA "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Kotzebue, for those passengers
headed for Nome, Alaska Airlines always gets their passengers to their
destination...right now Alaska Airlines is getting buses lined up to
take you and your bags from Kotzebue to  Nome."
At this, 111 call buttons started going off with questions like -
"What's the name of the bus company from Kotzebue to Nome?"
"How long is the bus ride?"
"Will our bags go on the bus?"
The flight attendant turned 8 shades of blue when she learned
the joke was on her - no road exists between Nome and Kotzebue....

Ron Miles sends us this one -
Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to
Flight Number 293, non-stop from New York to Los
Angeles. The weather ahead is good and therefore we
should have a smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit
back and relax - OH MY GOD!"
Silence followed and after a few minutes, the captain
came back on the intercom and said, "Ladies and
Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I scared you
earlier but while I was talking, the flight-attendant
brought me a cup of coffee and spilled the hot coffee in my lap.
You should see the front of my pants!"
A passenger in Coach said,
"That's nothing. He should see the back of mine!"
