. Need to know.
Don't leave home without making alternate travel plans. Heavy loads
might mean denied boarding for revenue customers and contingent
travellers, including travel partners. Help lighten the load for
Airport colleagues by making alternate travel arrangements BEFORE
you leave home. Make sure your travel partner is fully aware of the
travel partner program.
Advise them of the dress code and remind them they can ONLY travel on
an Air Canada or Regional Carrier flight when travelling without the
employee.

. Subject: computer security.
Your Chief Pilot sends us this, received from one of our readers -
There is a good site to check how your computer will hold up to an
attack. From an interesting program on CBC TV Halifax recently.
It dealt with the unauthorized internet access to personal and net
based computers, which appears to be on the rise. They gave the address
of a web site that deals with security.
www.grc.com
If you use ADSL or Cable then your computer is exposed to the Internet
24/7 and could be vulnerable.
They have a number of programs and each can be downloaded for free.
The site is worth investigating.

COLORFUL VIRGIN AIRWAYS OWNER ANNOUNCES NEW AERIAL VENTURE
Virgin Atlantic Airways founder and billionaire Richard Branson
announced last week that his latest commercial venture, Air Rage
Airlines (ARA), will begin service this month. ARA will offer service
to passengers banned from other airlines for unruly behavior. Branson
got the idea after airlines worldwide adopted his suggestion to
blacklist all passengers convicted of "air rage" on commercial flights.
ARA's special services will include high-density seating, only one
ticket agent at the airport for check-in, long waits on the ramp after
pushback and unlimited booze. Reservations can be made for inaugural
flights on ARA by calling 1-800-FLY-MAD.

. Terry's travel tips.
Visas are required to enter Australia for everyone except holders
of Australian and New Zealand passports.
Eating Out and Everyday Costs:
Can of Coke - $1.20, Big Mac - $3.50, Movie Ticket - $13,
Daily Paper - $1.00, Light Lunch of a sandwich and cup of coffee at a
take away - $6.00, Loaf of Bread - $2.00, Liter of Milk - $1.50,
A beer in a pub - $2.50,
Bottle of Local Wine from a Bottle Shop - around $10.00,
Cigarettes - very expensive approx. $6.00 for a pack of 25's.
To fill a medium size car with petrol (gas) when empty would be
approximately $35-$40, depending on area and if there's a petrol price
war on or not. Of course, prices vary by region and city, but it gives
you a general idea of day to day things.
There are all manner of restaurants, eating places, and fast take
away places. As a very multi-cultural society, you can find anything
from Mongolian to French, more so in the cities and especially in
Melbourne which is a gastronome (and shoppers !!) delight!
The ubiquitous McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Burger King, KFC, Dominoes and
Subway can be found almost everywhere. Hamburger bars, Fish and
Chip shops and Chinese restaurants are also found country wide.

. Smilie.
In the early 60s Alaska Airlines was referred to as spastic airlines
by Alaskans and not without some cause.
Location : Anchorage International Time : Early morning
"Anchorage ground, time check please."
"What airline are you?"
"Does it make a difference?"
Where upon a bright and effervesent voice says, "Oh Yes!
If you're Pan Am it's zero eight hundred. If your Wein it's eight AM.
But if your Alaska Airlines the little hand is on eight and the
big hand is on twelve."
