. Subject: Green Jackets!
Joan Milton sends this information -
I enjoyed the info in NetLetter 469 on the YVR Green Jackets, however,
as a member of this group I would like to mention we are called
"Greencoats" not Green Jackets. I would also add that being a volunteer
in this group is most rewarding.  I have been a Greencoat for over six
years now and my husband for 5 years, we both enjoy it immensely.  Since
we started at YVR many of our non-airline friends have also joined.  Not
only does it keep those of us who are retired airline employees 'in
touch' with the atmosphere of our working days but it gives one a great
feeling when assisting those who are not familiar with the airport
and/or feel lost when they arrive or are departing to/from strange
surroundings etc.
Good luck to Fraser O'Shaughnessy in his endeavours to get the "Blue
Sweater" program underway in YYZ.

Alan Rust adds this comment -
I think some of your readers are confused because we never mentioned that the
Green Jackets cover the Domestic, US, and International arrivals and departure
lounges and make themselves available to anyone that is looking for help
(or just looking confused).
As we know, airports can be very intimidating.  The Green Coats are armed with
directions, maps, airport knowledge and most important, patience and a friendly
smile to help put the travelling public at ease.
They are well appreciated and needed in YVR. I think the idea to spread the operation
across Canada is a great one.

. In NetLetter 469 we reported that B747 (C-GAGL) went up on a test flight.
Captain Harvey Bergan sets the record straight with this message -
The article about bringing back aircraft 341 - 747-433 from Orly was correct
but we did not land in Nice during the test flight. We actually landed in
Chateroux just South of Orly but since this was not in the Dispatch computer,
to get a flight plan back to ORLY, the dispatcher put in Nice. Would have
been nice, but no cigar.

. Smilie.
Neil Gilson sends this one -
One night, a twin-engine puddle jumper was flying somewhere
above New Jersey. There were five people on board: the pilot,
Michael Jordan, Bill Gates, the Dalai Lama, and a hitch-hiking
hippie. Suddenly, an oxygen generator exploded loudly in the
luggage compartment and the passenger cabin was boiling with
smoke.

The cockpit door opened and the pilot burst into the cabin.
'Gentlemen,' he began, 'I have good news and bad news. The bad
news is that we're about to crash in New Jersey. The good news
is that there are four parachutes, and I have one of them!'
With that, the pilot threw open the door and jumped from the
plane.

Michael Jordan was on his feet in a flash. 'Gentlemen,' he
said, 'I am the world's greatest athlete. The world needs
great athletes. I think the world's greatest athlete should
have a parachute!' With these words, he grabbed one of the
remaining parachutes and hurtled through the door out into the
night.

Bill Gates rose and said, 'Gentlemen, I am the world's
smartest man. The world needs smart men. I think the world's
smartest man should have a parachute too.' He grabbed one, and
out he jumped.

The Dalai Lama and the hippie looked at one another. Finally,
the Dalai Lama spoke. 'My son,' he said, 'I have lived a
satisfying life and have known the bliss of True
Enlightenment. You have your life ahead of you; you take a
parachute, and I will go down with the plane.'

The hippie smiled slowly and said, 'Hey, don't worry Pop. The
world's smartest man just jumped out wearing my backpack!'
