. Setting the record straight-
With reference to the 503 net letter, the B757 of Royal Aviation of Montreal was in the
Netherlands only for six weeks, flying the Transavia routes to Greece, Spain, Italy, etc.
This was a contract while Transavia waited for delivery of their B737-800, delayed due
to the strike in Boeing.  We all had a good time.

. From the YYZNEWS issued by Brian Dunn -

This past Tuesday, July 11th, Alitalia arranged a sub-service using a Tower Air 747-130 (N603FF) to operate their YYZ-FCO flight.   The inbound aircraft was cancelled and operated the next day instead.    As it turns out this particular aircraft is the oldest passenger 747 in the world and one of the few -100s still in service.  It has the MSN 19746 and was line number 12.   It first flew on February 18/70 and delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABYA on March 10, 1970.   It has since seen service with Braniff as N610BN, and Transamerica as N480GX and N780T, before moving to Tower Air.  There are only four older 747s left in the world, three of them with IIRAF (Iran), and no one really knows if they are still in service or not.   The other one is N691UP with UPS which first flew on Oct 31/69 and delivered to Pan American on Dec 19/69.  So, this visit on the 11th of N603FF is a real "classic" 747.   By the way it still has the three windows only on the upper deck, two on the port side.   (Thanks to Mike Baker of Airline Canada Review for giving us this trivia)

CONCORDSKY, THE SEQUEL, AIMING FOR 2010: An updated version of the
Tupolev Tu-144 supersonic passenger jet, the Tu-244, could be flying
by early in the next decade, according to Reuters.  Though the Russian
government will be hard-pressed to pay for the R&D, Tupolev says it is
hoping to get some financial support from the Boeing Co.  The Tu-144,
dubbed "Concordsky," made several flights, but the project was halted
after a fatal 1973 crash in France.

DELTA EXPRESS WELCOMES BLOSSOM, BUBBLES, BUTTERCUP:
Airlines that sport Peter Max and Austin Powers paint jobs are one thing, but Delta
Express has lowered the bar.  Last week, the airline rolled out a 737 paint job of the
Cartoon Network "Powerpuff Girls," Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles.  If this trend
continues, we think it will be only a matter of time until someone paints the foul-mouthed
kids from "South Park" on the side of a plane.

. Smilie.
Peoria, Ill., 1990.  Thunderstorms south of the airport...
PIA: "TWA xxx, how's the ride?"
TWA xxx: "It's rougher than burlap underwear up here."
PIA, after a short pause to catch a breath:
"Would you classify that as light, moderate, or severe chafing?"
From: David Hume <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.>
A passenger jet was suffering through a severe thunderstorm.
As the passengers were being bounced around by the turbulence
a young woman turned to a minister sitting next to her and
with a nervous laugh asks, "Reverend, you're a man of God,
can't you do something about this storm?"
To which he replies, "Lady, I'm in sales, not management."

and this one from Interlining plus -
After a long, bumpy flight, our passengers were glad to finally land. They disembarked,
and the other attendants and I checked for items left behind. In a seat pocket, I found a
bag of home-made cookies with a note saying "Much love, Mom."
Quickly, I gave the bag to our gate agent in hopes it would be reunited with its owner.
In few minutes, this announcement came over the P.A. system in the concourse:
"Would the passenger who lost his cookies on Flight 502, please return to the gate?"
