. Air Canada Pionair news, from  Pionair President Saville Hambleton  -
Hi All;
The Executive Board met today and reviewed our plan of action to complete
the integration of retirees from Canadian Airlines International and its
former constituent airlines. The following action would be taken in
compliance with the rules laid out by The Corporations Directorate - Industry Canada.
Cheques accompanying applications would be cashed at a later date, no later
than June 30th, and placed IN TRUST.
A complete name list would be maintained, of those who applied for
membership in the Pionairs.
Pionair By-Laws would be amended at our AGM in May, to reflect in Articles
3-1 and 6-2 that a retiree from Canadian Airlines International or one of
its former constituent airlines would be eligible for membership in the
Pionairs and eligible to be nominated as a member of an Executive Board.
Pionair applicants from Canadian Airlines International and its former
constituent airlines would be warmly welcomed at our AGM in Calgary, May
18-20 but would be asked to refrain from voting on the above By-Laws
amendments.
I'm pleased to say that the Executive Board was unanimous on the above
course action.
It has been a long journey but we can see closure within six months.
Congratulations to all Pionairs who have worked so hard to make our airline
retiree family bigger and better.
FYI we have processed 745 applications and are running at about 50 new ones
daily.
Best Regards, Saville

. Smilie.

A few years ago at New York's Westchester County Airport:
Tower: "Falcon 12345, runway three-four, cleared to land.  Traffic is a
Tampico on short final."
Hot-shot Falcon pilot: (snidely) "What's a Tampico?"
Tower: "Single-engine low-wing, sorta like a Cherokee."
Hot-shot Falcon pilot: (condescendingly) "Oh!  We thought it was a
Mexican restaurant."
Tower:  "United 123, runway three-four, cleared to land.  Traffic is a
Falcon, one-mile final."
United: (with just the right amount of irony) "What's a Falcon?"

FINALLY, THE DEFINITIVE ANSWER ON PENGUINS:
Well, all the jokes about penguins falling over while watching airplanes fly
overhead can stop. British environmental research scientist Richard Stone
spent five weeks watching helicopters fly over two King penguin colonies
in the Antarctic and not a single bird fell over.  Now we can all sleep better...
