. Need to know.
Employee travel tips about vacation plans to Florida. Since many of our key
destinations in Florida, such as Tampa and Orlando, are considered vacation
hot spots during the peak spring break period, employee travel is expected
to be very difficult. Therefore, we recommend that you have a vacation back
up plan. Either make alternate travel bookings on other carriers, prior to
departure, or chose alternate destinations. Also, please remember to always
carry with you paper flight coupons in the event that you are travelling
from a non-DCS station - a station not handled by Air Canada. Orlando is
such a station. In some instances, if you don’t have a paper ticket when
one is required, you may be refused travel. Don’t worry about whether you
need to use the old or new ticket stock, as both are accepted. These quick
tips will help you avoid travel complications or disappointments.

Collection of U.S. Department of Transport cards a must. All airlines are
mandated by U.S. law to collect and retain the U.S. Department of Transport
cards (DOT) from all U.S. citizens. Air Canada policy is to provide DOT
cards to all customers travelling to and from the U.S. - this is in
addition to data collected through APIS. Although some of the information
on the U.S. DOT card is identical to APIS information, the purpose is
different. Therefore, the company is required to collect and retain full
names of all U.S. citizens on all Air Canada and Air Canada Jazz flights to
and from the United States. Customer Sales and Service agents at check-in
or at the gates are required to have U.S. citizens complete the cards
before they board the aircraft. Customers who refuse will be denied
boarding. Failure to comply with the U.S. regulation will result in heavy
fines for the company.

Do you have any cellphones no longer in use and you don't know what to do
with them?
I belong to a computer club in Victoria, BC and our members are collecting
old no longer used cellular telephones.
These phones are taken to a local Cell Service where the personal
information created by the user is blown away (such things as personal
phone lists and
records of phone calls), then the phones are tested to determine that they
are capable of being charged and hold a charge for a sufficient duration to
complete a phone call to 9-1-1.(only)
The recycled phones are then given to 3 local Women's Transition
Houses in Victoria and Sooke.
We envision the program to expand to others as the donations of used phones
increases and we are able to make contact with other agencies whose clients
can use this FREE service. We foresee them going to the handicapped and even
street people who are often vulnerable and could use a phone which can place
a free call to emergency services by simply dialling 9-1-1.
The phones donated must include the battery and the
charging unit or they are not any good to provide to others who may need
them in an emergency. Replacement cellular phones purchased by the initial
user come complete with such batteries and charges and most of the time they
are not reusable with the newer replacement phones.
Locally the phone and chargers can be dropped off at Priority One
Computers at 3371 Oak Street. Victoria, B.C.or BigBlue and Cousins
(upstairs)

. Former B737 aircraft being submerged as an artifical reef -
Recreational divers are hoping that a planned final resting place for a
retired Boeing 737 airliner will become a flourishing underwater nursery
for marine life near Comox on Vancouver Island.

First destined for Howe Sound and then Sechelt, where community concerns
killed plans for its arrival this once a Pacific Western Airlines aircraft,
was sold to Air Canada, registered as C-GBPW c/n 20958, which sold it to
Qwest Airparts Ltd. of Memphis. The Tennessee company donated the plane to
the Artificial Reef Society.
Divers are working to make the 33-metre long aluminum plane B.C.'s next
artificial reef -- one that will attract visitors and their dollars to
Vancouver Island's east coast. If required federal permits come through,
the plane is scheduled to be sunk May 29.
Reservations are being taken for the main event for up to 200 divers at
$350 per person. That's for two nights accommodation, a fundraising dinner
and dance on the evening of the sinking, and the chance to be one of the
first divers on the plane. You and your diving buddy will have your picture
taken in the plane's cockpit and you'll go home with a T-shirt.
To book a reservation, call 250-338-6829 or send an e-mail to
